This historic stone cottage on 16 acres near Accord in the Hudson Valley is a relaxing rural retreat, surrounded by quiet woods, mountain views, and a private pond with canoe. High ceilings and a bright, carefully-designed interior is tasteful, warm and inviting, featuring a charming sunny kitchen and clawfoot tub. The area is a haven for lovers of nature and outdoor activities: ride bikes on a nice, smooth kid-friendly bike path at the nearby stunning Ashokan Reservoir, hike at Mohonk Mountain House and Preserve or the sprawling Minnewaska State Park.
Why Kids Love it
Kids will love running around the large yard, catching frogs by the pond, and exploring the surrounding nature. They can play on the backyard swings, hammock and climbing rope, circle the pond on the property’s canoe, or use the bicycles (2 for small children, 2 for adults) for a family bike ride. There are plenty of toys and books available for indoor downtime.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 2 nights. The property is in a very rural area and is unfenced and close to both the road and the pond - children must be supervised. Two children's life vests provided for the canoe. The library features some animal skulls and taxidermy. The backyard is equipped with gas grill and dining table. Bicycles (2 children, 2 adult) and canoe provided. Interior stairs do not have safety gates. Note there is no TV in the house. WiFi and washer/dryer included; there are 2 small window air conditioning units in the upstairs guests rooms. There is no air conditioning in the primary bedroom, but the house, being stone, is quite cool most of the time and there is a ceiling fan in this room.

Nearby activities include world class hiking, exploring and swimming at Mohonk Preserve and Lake Minnewaska, and skiing at Belleayre, Hunter or Windham Mountains (each about 50 minutes away). There are plenty of local farms and farm stands, breweries such as Arrowood and Westwind with family friendly menus and activities, proximity to multiple charming towns, and a variety of locally-sourced restaurants. Play tennis or a round of golf at the nearby, newly opened Inness resort. There is a grocery store and pharmacy a 20-minute drive away in Stone Ridge along with restaurants and shops.

Style Notes
Historic, bright and airy. This stone cottage has unusually high ceilings and many windows revealing the breathtaking backdrop. The interior is tastefully classic, featuring a charming kitchen with open shelves and farmhouse table, luxurious clawfoot tub, working fireplace, and exposed beams on the sloped master ceiling. We love the antique train station bench, museum-like mahogany library, and the many outdoor adventures to explore nearby.
