Style Notes

Contemporary and luxurious family escape. Martinhal’s architects were led by king of British design, Sir Terence Conran, and have pulled off a chic low-slung design next to the beach in a beautiful setting. It has been built with natural materials, which also take precedence in the décor – cork, stone and wood are everywhere, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows that maximize the sea-views and beach beyond. The surf-shack themed coffee shop / bar has a full-size VW campervan where you can sip a coffee or cocktail. The restaurants are relaxed with stunning sea views. Overall, this is a stylish and luxurious family paradise. We love the extremely comfortable beds, the outdoor heated pools and hangout areas, the facilities, the kids’ clubs, the unspolit location… need we go on?

Beaches, golf and sunshine

If you like golf, sunshine and beaches, you’ll love the Algarve. Portugal’s sunny spot gets 3,000 hours of sunny blue skies every year and entertains far more sun seekers than that on its highly accessible sandy beaches. For an easy beach break from just about everywhere in Europe, look no further. Beyond the beach, kids love the water slides at Aqualand, boat trips and meeting the monkeys at Zoo de Lagos.
