Arezzo, Tuscany

La vita è bella

This medieval town between Perugia and Florence is known for its Renaissance frescoes. Children will love playing in the ruined Roman amphitheatre and day trips to Poppi Zoo, where they meet the rare European Lynx among other animals. Surrounded by countryside and hilltop villages in true Tuscan style, leisurely lunches and divine wine are the order of the day.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Mulino residence. Pauly and Sofia were the perfect hosts; they reached out ahead of time to ensure we had the correct address and directions, they provided a beautiful and delicious welcome basket and were very responsive to any questions we had about the area. The home is very well equipped with everything we could possibly have needed and it was very clean. The extra bonus of having chickens on the property offered the ability to have fresh eggs everyday and it was a highlight for our daughter who loved to feed them! The pool is very clean as Pauly would cover it every evening when we were done and had it open again in the morning. He also provided plenty of wood for the fireplaces that we used to keep us cozy in the evenings while we enjoyed the wonderful library of DVDs. The home has great charm and was a perfect getaway; it is great for families, couples or groups of couples! We highly recommend the Mulino residence for everyone.

We had a lovely stay outside of Arezzo for my husband's 40th birthday. There were 4 adults, 1 toddler and 2 babies (under 1). There were enough baby provisions for us at the house, which is great, as my 10.5 month old daughter learned how to climb the stairs while we were there! Paul was quite helpful and there was a little basket with food for us, so we didn't have to run to store right when we arrived. It was a bit cold at night (~50F) the week we were there, so it was a bit chilly in the evenings. We opted to just build fires instead of turning on the heat. We would totally stay at the house again. It was a bit of a far drive from places (Arezzo, 30 minutes), Montepulciano (1.25 hours), Cortona (45-60 minutes), but we didn't mind at all. We loved having the fresh eggs in the morning as well! :)
