Perks for the Parents

Head to the happening neighborhood of Battersea, where you’ll find this spacious family home with children’s bedrooms and a basement playroom. It sleeps 9. Parents will love this house, which has a gorgeous primary suite with luxurious ensuite, plus space for kids on the top floor as well as a pretty little garden. Borrow a bike from one of the sharing bike stations nearby for easy access over the river into Chelsea or a quick cycle through Battersea Park to visit the iconic Battersea Power Station.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love hanging out on the top floor - both the children’s bedrooms are located in the loft away from prying parents. There’s a cool bunk room for 3 with toys and books, or a more mature double room for older kids and teens. Children will even have their own chill-out space in the playroom basement, where they’ll find a TV, table tennis table and toys. It’s just 10 minutes’ walk to Battersea Park, one of the best parks for kids in the city, which features a Go Ape treetop trail, a petting zoo, skate parks and an adventure playground.

Things to Know

No smoking or parties. Well-behaved dogs may be allowed on request. A dog is one of the family members who usually lives here, so those with allergies should be aware. The third bedroom sleeps 3 guests, with 2 single bunk beds plus a single trundle bed underneath. Two of the bedrooms have air conditioning and the bathrooms boast underfloor heating. There is a basement annexe which is separate and not accessible for guests renting the home: at some points during the year it may be occupied by other guests but they do not have access to the rest of the house.

About the Location

Moments from the Thames and beautiful Battersea Park, this home is located in leafy South West London. Battersea Park (10 minutes’ walk) is nearby and there are cafes and restaurants in Battersea village (5-10 minutes on foot). Chelsea is 10 minutes by taxi over the river, as is the newly renovated Battersea Power Station, recently completed with a range of restaurants, shops and and a cinema. It’s roughly half an hour into central London for visits to Buckingham Palace or Hyde Park. Clapham Junction station is 15 minutes’ walk but there are bus routes available from the end of the street.

Accommodation Details

This house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 4 floors. On the entrance level, there are 2 living areas at the front and back; the second of which has double doors leading to the kitchen, which features a breakfast bar for 4 plus an eat-in dining table. Upstairs, the 2 main bedrooms feature kingsize beds, while the children’s rooms up in the eaves have 1 double and 1 set of bunk beds (with a single trundle). Every bedroom has an ensuite bathroom; the primary bedroom ensuite has an exquisite roll-top bath. A TV and games room, plus a laundry room, can be found on the basement lower ground floor.

Style Notes

Calm and serene. The owners have shaped this home around lofty skylights and cavernous glass ceilings, allowing the light to flood in and illuminate these interiors in all their glory. A contemporary kitchen is adorned with deep blue hues and marble countertops, finished with luxe brass hardware. We love the striking artwork throughout, the elegant fireplaces and the beautiful garden with its sun-trap patio shaded by climbing vines.

Hi Kid & Coe Families! I am a home manager who helps to host this property on behalf of owners. I am happy to answer any questions that you have.

Battersea, London

Thames walks and park strolls

South of the river, but only just, family-friendly Battersea is known for its power station - a major local landmark - and its excellent park, home to a mini zoo, boating lake and duck pond. Lavender Hill and Clapham Junction nearby have great pubs and cafés and just across the Thames are the chi-chi areas of Chelsea and Pimlico. It’s well connected by train and bus to the city at large.

There was a friend of the family living in an unlocked room in the basement of the home. We were, of course, not informed of this situation and instead discovered a stranger in the house on our second morning. The local booking company was incredibly unhelpful. Will not use kid & coe again after this experience.

We are very sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay at The Henning Street Residence and that you felt unsafe. On the listing for this property in the Home Truths section it explains that: ‘there is a fifth double bedroom with ensuite and kitchenette available on request. If not requested, it may be booked by a tenant who has access from the exterior of the house and the internal doors are locked from each side for complete privacy.’ I am aware that you felt unsafe as you said the door to the basement bedroom was unlocked, possibly a mistake by the cleaners, and we sent the housekeeper to rectify this as soon as possible. We are sorry once again for this situation and tried to explain that you should have had no reason to feel unsafe. We’ve not had this complaint at the property before.
