Occupying the entire top floor of a contemporary apartment block, this spacious residence has all the benefits of a detached style property, and is on one level so those with little ones needn’t worry about stairs. There is plenty of space inside, and out, for parents to relax while the kids run around and explore. The primary bedroom has a kingsize bed and views over the rooftops towards the Television tower at Alexanderplatz. Located centrally in the hip, family friendly Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood, there are plenty of shops, organic food stores, restaurants, cafés and ice cream parlours on the doorstep, as well as 3 playgrounds just minutes’ walk away. There are excellent local transport connections for exploring the rest of the city, with direct trams to Alexanderplatz.
Why Kids Love it
Kids can run and play to their heart’s content with no side on neighbors to worry about disturbing, and excellent sound proofing between them and the downstairs residence. There are books and toys provided, with a brightly decorated bunk/play room with shelves packed full of games including colorful wooden building blocks and large Schleich animals for any younger ones. Teens and older kids will appreciate the games console, and the television has a DVD player and library for downtime with a movie or latest series. The hosts provide bicycles to borrow for a fun way to explore the local area, though there are multiple playgrounds and parks within walking distance, the closest being just across the road. There’s a crib and a highchair available to borrow on request, as well as bed rails and window guards for the additional safety of little ones.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 2 nights. The apartment is on the top floor of a shared building that has an elevator. There are 3 patio areas at the residence - patio doors can be secured with safety locks if required, and kids should always be supervised when on the terraces. There are also security locks on both entrance doors. A double airbed is available to accommodate an additional 2 guests; please let the hosts know if this is required. A housekeeper is available for weekly cleans; please speak to the hosts if more regular services are required. There is good WiFi available with a work desk in one of the bedrooms for those who need one. Sorry, no pets. There will be 1 room locked and not for guest access. License no: 03/Z/RA/009509-24.
About the Location
The residence is located in the center of Prenzlauer Berg, a hip neighborhood which is quiet, safe and popular with families. Known for its relaxed atmosphere, there are plenty of green spaces including the large Volkspark Friedrichshain (9 minutes' walk), with its fairy-tale fountains, playground and cafe. There are several other playgrounds just minutes’ walk from the apartment, as well as many cafés, restaurants and shops. Transport connections are good in all directions with direct trams to Alexanderplatz taking around 10 minutes. Berlin has plenty on offer for kids including the Berlin City Zoo and The Aquarium Berlin (35 minutes by car or public transport), The Natural History Museum (18 minutes by car) and the Computer Games Museum (9 minutes’ drive). The closest international airport is Berlin Brandenburg, around 50 minutes by car or train.
Accommodation Details
The residence is 230sqm, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus 3 terraces, set over 1 floor. The central living space is an open plan style kitchen-diner-living room which includes a fully stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, a kitchen island seating 4 on bar stools, and a double chaise sofa, large enough to seat all the family. Bifold doors open onto the biggest terrace with space for at least 6 people on the dining table, with views over the rooftops of Berlin to the Alexanderturm. Two corridors leave this centre room in two directions and offer access to the bathrooms and bedrooms: a primary with a kingsize bed, a second bedroom with a queensize bed and a third kids’ bedroom that sleeps 4, with a single-over-double bunk bed, plus 1 single pull-out bed and plenty of toys. The host also has a double air bed and 1 fold-out mattress if required. There are 2 bathrooms; the primary has a bathtub and double sinks. As well as the larger terrace, there are also 2 other terraces, with smaller tables for 4 people and outside beds (for 2 persons each).
Style Notes
Bright and botanical. This joyful apartment has been decorated with zest featuring bold, colour drenched walls in neon coral, electric blue and deep yellow, alongside statement Scandinavian wallpapers. A leafy vibe runs throughout from the plant-filled balconies to the indoor palms and botanical plant and tree designs of the various wall papers. The living room injects some industrial chic into the mix with an exposed concrete wall, a contemporary chaise longue/sofa and a sleek, modern kitchen with elegant bar stools and low hung pendant lighting. We love the apartment’s roof top position with its 3 relaxing terraces offering a leafy place to sit, relax or dine, with front row seats for watching the sunset over the city.
