A luxurious rural retreat near Comares in southern Spain, finished with stunning interiors and a heated pool. It sleeps 6. Sit and relax by the pool or take shade under the pergola with a good book, before you cook a fabulous al fresco meal on the Egg BBQ in the handy outdoor kitchen. The house benefits from beautiful views overlooking the Axarquia mountains while the roof terrace has even more spectacular views all around - the perfect spot for a sundowner.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love playing in the 8x4m heated pool and dozing on the 2 cozy pool beds or the hammock outside. The pool isn’t gated and there’s a fairly low perimeter wall around the pool area, so the villa is probably best suited to older kids and teens rather than toddlers. They'll find some outdoor toys, board games and pool toys for younger ones plus a crib and highchair if required. For a change of pace from this peaceful retreat, there are plenty of water parks and amusements at towns along the Costa del Sol, all under an hour away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. All rooms have air conditioning. The pool can be heated in low season for an extra charge. Each room has its own hairdryer and there are laundry facilities within the home. The hosts have a nearby property, Villa Pepita, which is 8 minutes’ drive from the villa should you wish to stay with another family close by. Car rental is essential and there is parking for 4 - 6 cars.

About the Location

The villa is located close to the village of Comares in the Axarquia region of Andalusia. This quiet and authentic area is perfect for hiking, biking and enjoying the beautiful nature that Axarquia has to offer. It’s 10 minutes by car from the village of Riogordo for groceries and 20 minutes from the center of the small town of Comares, on top of the mountain. For days out, it’s 40 minutes from the Costa del Sol for a beach visit or lunch (at Torre del Mar). Malaga airport is roughly 45 minutes away by car. Further afield, it’s 75 minutes from Granada and 90 minutes from Cordoba.

Accommodation Details

There are 3 bedrooms and 3 ensuite bathrooms. There is a well-equipped kitchen with fridge and deep freezer, induction cooker, oven, microwave, nespresso machine - as it would be your own kitchen at home. (The host’s husband has a restaurant and is a cook, so they’ve made sure that the kitchen is fully set up for cooking family meals!). You’ll find a cozy living area with a TV open fireplace next to the kitchen plus a large living space outdoors next to the pool. Each bedroom has a kingsize bed and the bathrooms have showers, not bathtubs. There is 1 extra sofa bed available for 1 child, which can be set up on request.

Style Notes

Rustic Chic. This home is a masterclass in barefoot luxury, with natural textures, wooden materials and minimal decor used to create a laid-back sanctuary. All the bathrooms are decorated with microcement, while the floors are finished with polished concrete, which feels traditional and historic yet has a contemporary appearance with a pared-back edge. The beautiful location offers 18,000m2 land with olive and almond trees and the views, especially at sunset, are spectacular. We love the exterior travertine tiles, the chunky integrated kitchen cabinetry and the beautiful original thick wooden doors.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
If the guest cancels 6 weeks in advance they must pay the 30% of the payment (the deposit amount). After 6 weeks before arrival there is no refund. In addition to the host's policy, there is a 15% admin fee due to Kid & Coe in case of cancellations.

Historic and characterful with an exciting zipline

With views of olive trees and almond groves, there is plenty to recommend Comares, one of Andalusia's famous white villages, in the Malaga Province. Perched on a hilltop as one of the highest-sited villages in the area, Comares' streets are as historic and characterful as the location. Spy donkeys nibbling dandelions in the fields, eat ice cream in the main plaza and try the zipline to the neighboring village - it's the longest zip wire in the country.
