Perks for the Parents

This stunning waterfront home in Copake, New York, is situated right on the water at Robinson Pond. It sleeps a total of 6. This recently-renovated lake house has been designed with family getaways in mind. The living areas are all open plan so you can keep an eye on little ones wherever you are, and there’s a separate bedroom on the bottom floor which would work well for grandparents, teens, or those traveling with an au pair or family friends. For parents who love outdoor cooking, there is a Weber gas grill and a Weber kettle charcoal grill, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need to make a family feast. This home has incredible views of Robinson Pond and surrounding mountains - the perfect backdrop for your morning coffee or that early-evening glass of wine.

Why Kids Love it

This is a great house for kids of all ages. There’s plenty of baby and toddler essentials (such as a Sven high chair, a pack n play, baby bath, potty, children’s utensils, a baby pool, and life jackets for children) as well as a dedicated play room with toys and games. Farms abound, including Love Apple Farm in Ghent and Kinderhook Farm, which often offers farm tours on weekends. There is loads of room for kids to play and run around outdoors on the waterfront, whatever the season. Older kids and teens will love sitting out by the firepit in the evening (perfect for toasting s’mores!) and exploring Robinson Pond - in winter it freezes over and makes way for ice skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice fishing.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights, and 7 nights (Friday to Friday) during July through Labor Day. The host is not accepting bookings of longer than 2 weeks. Parking is available for 2 cars and car rental is recommended. Safety notes: kids can easily access the water so they should be watched at all times. There is a doorway to the stairs so this area can be kept safe. Sorry - no pets allowed. The hosts have lots of water sports equipment for guests to use during their stay: life jackets, 2 kayaks, 2 SUPs, and 1 canoe. Bike rentals are also available at Bash Bish Bicycle (less than 10 minutes’ drive).

Lakeside lodges and outdoor fun

This desirable location, about 2.5 hours north of New York City, is a haven for families, close to ski slopes in winter and with watersports on its local lakes aplenty in the summer. The houses here are beautiful, with large gardens, and the local towns and villages have unique independent shops, farmers markets and family-run cafes. If you like golf, there are plenty of nearby courses, not to mention fun mini golf courses for kids.

This was our second stay at this lovely home - we stayed here last year for a family ski trip and loved it so much that we booked it again this year. The house is very clean, comfortable, well-styled and well-located with easy access to Great Barrington, Butternut and Catamount. The lake view is beautiful and our kids loved all the toys and the foosball table too. We definitely hope to be back next year and continue what's becoming a great family tradition!

Beautiful home with many thoughtful, tasteful details, comfortable beds and modern kitchen. We are super picky about cleanliness and this house was spotless and everything felt new and fresh. Hosts were super friendly and easy to communicate with. Kids loved all the toys available, especially the chalkboard wall and foosball in the basement! Would love to come again.
