Perks for the Parents

A cozy coastal cottage in Cawsand Bay, Cornwall, just 3 minutes' walk from 3 sandy beaches. It sleeps 10. Well set-up for a family stay, this home has a great family space, with an open plan living room to relax all together and enjoy board games or books around the wood-burning stove. You’re just a few minutes’ walk from local cafes or pubs so you won’t have to cook, but the relaxed open-plan kitchen means you can prepare family meals with ease. This car-free village means you can walk everywhere with even the youngest of kids, with everything you’ll need on your doorstep. Parents will love sinking into the freestanding tub after an exhilarating day hiking the coastal paths, swimming in the sea or playing on the beach with the kids.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys and books for children under 10, including board games, books, Lego and Duplo. It’s a 5-minute walk from 2 sheltered sandy beaches that kids love in the summer months - Cornwall is one of the most sought-after summer destinations for families in the UK. Take them to explore the rock pools where they can spot crabs and little fish, while you visit the beach bar nearby - the hosts provide great beach gear including a picnic mat, fishing nets, body boards and outdoor game sets. The hosts have heaps of extra essentials for parents traveling with little ones: 3 travel cribs, a baby door bouncer, 2 changing mats, 2 high chairs, a baby bath, bath mat, bed guards, steep stool, foam play mat, children’s dinnerware, a carrier backpack, black-out shade, beach tent with sun shade, baby toys and more.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights, with a 7-night minimum from April to September and during UK school half-term holidays (February, May and October). Saturday changeovers during high season. Discounts are offered for stays over 3 nights in low season - ask the host for a custom quote. Check in is via key safe code. There is no parking on the premises as the villages are car free, but you can unload luggage in a parking bay outside the house and there are 2 local car parks to leave your vehicle. The most convenient is a 5-minute walk from the house or you can park for free up the hill (a 10-minute walk from the house). There is very little public transport in this area so a vehicle is useful if you want to explore the wider area. The hosts have 2 kayaks and paddleboards plus life jackets for guests to use during their stay. Up to 4 well behaved dogs are welcome for an additional fee.

About the Location

The cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside in Cornwall and just a stones’ throw from 3 sandy beaches: Cawsand Beach, Kingsand Beach and The Cleave. The property is situated in the middle of 2 fishing villages: Kingsand and Cawsand, both of which have many coves and sandy beaches, sheltered by the Rame Peninsula. There are several local shops and cafes, and the local pubs all serve delicious fresh food. A 10-minute drive takes you to Polhawn Fort and Whitsand Bay, where you'll find miles of deserted sandy beaches. For dog lovers and walkers, the South-East Coastal Path runs past the house and offers stunning hikes with unbeatable coastal views. It’s around 1 hour from the Eden Project and just over an hour to Newquay regional airport. London is roughly 5 hours away by car; Plymouth is 45 minutes’ drive (or accessible via ferry) for access to train routes.

Accommodation Details

The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. You’ll find a large open-plan living/dining room and a separate eat-in kitchen, plus access to a garden and patio with BBQ. On the first floor there is a primary bedroom with a super kingsize bed and spacious ensuite with bathtub and shower. On the mezzanine floor, the second bedroom also has a super kingsize bed and bathroom with bathtub. On the second floor, the third bedroom has a kingsize bed and shares a bathroom with a twin bedroom. There is also a bunkroom that’s ideal for children and the hosts have a travel crib available on request. The upstairs bathroom features a shower and there is an additional shower room on the ground floor next to the utilities room. The utilities room leads to the garden.

Style Notes

Seaside Cottage. The house has recently been redecorated with underheating throughout the ground floor and a cosy wood burning stove to keep you feeling warm and relaxed in the living room. The kitchen is bright and modern with fresh white and blue coastal tones, while the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with original historic wooden floors, separated by quirky split level stairs. We love the classic panelling in the bathroom, the exposed wooden beams in the ceilings and the gorgeous old stone fireplace in the living room.
