Perks for the Parents

This pretty villa is perfect for a family stay, with a dedicated kids room, swimming pool, in-ground trampoline and swing. It sleeps 9. This is also a great home for food lovers or parents who love to cook: the stylish kitchen is well equipped so you can rustle up family meals with all your goodies from the local produce markets, and there’s also an outside kitchen with a kamado BBQ, pizza oven and an al-fresco dining area.

Why Kids Love it

There’s lots of space to run around and play in the garden and they’ll absolutely love the heated swimming pool, in-ground trampoline and swing. The kids room has triple bunk beds for sharing, as well as a children’s desk to draw, color or read. Kids of all ages will enjoy visiting the small villages and bustling farmers markets in the area too. The hosts can provide a wooden baby crib, highchair and paper and pencils/markers for crafts.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 nights from April to October, but 7 nights in July and August with a Saturday arrival day (and Dutch school holidays - April/May/October - when the hosts will visit). Tourist tax is to be paid directly to the host (currently 2.50EURpppn). Safety notes: there are no stairs. The pool has an electric cover, for peace of mind. The hosts supply toiletries from their favorite cosmetic brand Meraki in the bathrooms. Car rental is essential in this area. The nearest airport is Bergerac airport, which is 35 minutes away and can be reached from several European and British airports. It’s roughly 2 hours from both Bordeaux or Toulouse airports.

About the Location

The house is 5 minutes’ drive from Monflanquin, one of the most pretty French villages in Lot Garonne, on the edge of the Dordogne. The property is surrounded by beautiful views and privacy, yet all the amenities of the local village are just a few minutes away: you’ll find street markets, a big supermarket, restaurants, boulangerie, and more. You can also go canoeing on the rivers in this region.

Accommodation Details

The villa has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. You’ll find an open plan kitchen/dining area with oven, dishwasher, wine cooler, Quooker and coffee machine, plus an additional dining table outdoors. There are 3 queensize/kingsize beds and 1 children’s room with built-in triple bunk beds. There are also 2 bathrooms, one of which has a tub. The views from the garden are amazing, looking out over the rolling French hills.

Style Notes

Light, charming and contemporary, this stylish home blends both historical features and modern furnishing. The kitchen boasts stone counters and oak cabinetry, with high ceilings and beautiful original wooden beams, while the living rooms has cozy castle vibes - it’s over 200 years old. We love the bright and airy bedrooms, made up with washed linen bedding, as well as the parquet brick flooring in the kitchen and the fluted tiling.

Hi! We are Tim and Marlous and we have 3 little girls named Lune, Madee and Naví. In 2024 we bought our dream holiday home in our favorite part of France. We renovated Maison Rosé over spring and summer and now we are happy to share our charming French house!

Dordogne, Southwest France

The green heart of France

The rural farming heart of France is a fantastic destination for a family getaway, amid fields of sunflowers and pretty market towns. The Dordogne river itself is good for canoeing and swimming, and there are castles and chateaux to explore, caves painted with prehistoric images and, this being France, sensational food.

We had a wonderful stay at ‘Maison Rose as a family of 3. The location is perfect for peace and quiet but close enough to visit local villages. We didn’t want to come home ! Thank you Marlous and Tim for being good hosts too. We hope to return soon
