Perks for the Parents

A calm yet contemporary city pad in the heart of Barcelona, with a dedicated kids room and beautiful minimalist interiors. It sleeps 7. Parents will love this historic building and central location, which is just moments from the capital’s best shopping and cultural streets. The hosts have created a relaxing, stylish space that’s an ideal retreat after busy days of sightseeing, with a gorgeous primary suite as well as an office with 2 desks for those who need to work (or escape from the kids) during their stay.

Why Kids Love it

The apartment is very spacious and great for kids. They’ll love climbing the bunk ladder to play in this raised level and playing with the host’s toys, books and costumes. Jump on the metro to visit Ciutadella Park (10 minutes, or 20 minutes’ walk) where they’ll find a zoo, boating lake, an outdoor pool, skate park, playgrounds and more. For family days out, head to the city beach, waterpark and waterside aquarium (all around 20 minutes by metro).

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The apartment is on the fourth floor of a historic building. There is an elevator but there are also 2 steps in the lobby. There are several parking lots near the building although car rental is not necessary in this central location. It’s 2 minutes’ walk from Passeig de Gracia metro station or 4 minutes on foot from Urquinaona. The airport is around 45 minutes by train or 20 minutes by car.

About the Location

This apartment is located in Pau Claris, 1 block from the famous and elegant Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona. Paseo de Gracia boasts some of the city’s best exclusive shops and is the most authentic example of Catalan Modernism. Buildings such as the Casa Batllo and Casa Mila (better known as La Pedrera) designed by Antonio Gaudi, are less than 200 meters away. Being in the heart of Barcelona, it’s just a 5-minute walk from Plaza Catalunya, the start of the La Rambla neighborhood. This busy, popular area includes the famous La Boqueria Market, Teatro Liceu, the enigmatic Gothic architecture and the old port, where you can admire the beautiful boats anchored here.

Accommodation Details

This attic apartment has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There’s a large living room with a dining table, plus an open kitchen that is fully equipped. The primary bedroom has a comfortable kingsize bed and an ensuite bathroom. The second room has a single upper bunk bed as well as 2 single beds - perfect for 3 kids. The third bedroom has a queensize bed. The apartment has 3 bathrooms: 1 with a shower, the other with a bathtub and a WC. The living room, office and third bedroom face the street with beautiful views. The primary bedroom and children’s room face the inner patio of the block so there is no noise during the night.

Style Notes

Minimal modernist. Bright and light thanks to plentiful windows, the hosts have maintained the authenticity of a 1890s apartment but renovated it with modern refurbishments to make it comfortable for families. Renovated in 2022, the space combines classic modernist touches with contemporary amenities, with the glorious juxtaposition of original doors, windows and ceilings. We love the mix of vintage and modern furniture, the relaxing neutral color scheme and the wooden parquet flooring.

Eixample, Barcelona

Modernist buildings and beautiful boutiques

The narrow medieval streets of the old city become refreshed and modern at Eixample. Expect to see undulating buildings, architectural masterpieces and plenty of examples of Gaudi’s work in the area, including the Sagrada Familia. It’s a very central area with beautiful clothes shops, hip bars and the best of the city’s nightlife.

We had a fantastic trip to Barcelona, and the Carrer de Pau Claris residence was a fantastic home base. The location is very central and the kids loved riding on the old school elevator. The apartment was beautiful and had plenty of room for our two kids (9 and 11). Armando gave us a lot of really valuable recommendations, ranging from fun family activities to more practical recs for food/shopping. Highly recommend.

What not to love about this apartment?? It is beautiful, spacious, very clean and with lots of sun light. The whole apartment (and the building) is cozy and charming! It is also very close to many delicious restaurants, touristic places, stores and metro. We were a total of 4 adults and 2 kids and it didn’t feel crowded at all. The kids loved the bunk beds, kitchen is fully equipped, the bedding and linens were very clean and nice… The hosts were very friendly and you can tell that they care about the experience they are providing. Thanks Armando and Mariana!
