Perks for the Parents

This traditional rooftop apartment overlooks some of the city’s most prominent monuments and Florentine roofs. It sleeps 4. You’ll love spending your mornings on the panoramic terrace listening to the sound of local bell towers and enjoying freshly baked pastries from the panetteria downstairs (well deserved after pounding the pavements in this highly walkable city). For lazy afternoons, the second terrace is perfect for a good book.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love a trip to the nearby Museum of Illusions (6 minutes’ walk) or spotting the little historic stores nestled inside the Ponte Vecchio bridge (8 minutes’ walk). The Pitti Palace has beautiful gardens outside where kids can run around (15 minutes over the river) and teens will love all the museums here dedicated to fashion, art and culture. A crib and high chair are available on request.

About the Location

Located in Florence’s historic Santa Croce neighborhood, this apartment is just 3 minutes’ walk from the city’s Ponte alle Grazie bridge, so you’ll have all the attractions and foodie spots virtually at your doorstep. After a walk through the city’s narrow lanes and street markets, you can explore the stunning Pitti Palace and its botanical garden filled with trees and fountains. The Uffizi Gallery, Basilica of Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio and the 13th-century Cathedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore are also not to be missed. The closest beach in Versilia, in the northwest province of Lucca, is just over an hour away, and wine connoisseurs will love visiting the nearby Chianti vineyards and medieval villages in the surrounding rural areas.

Accommodation Details

The apartment has 2 bedrooms set over 2 floors. On the lower floor, you’ll find the primary bedroom with a queensize bed and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower, as well as a second twin bedroom (can be set up as queensize on request) and equally sophisticated bathroom. Upstairs there is a stunning open plan living space featuring a farmhouse-style kitchen and living room complete with 15th-century features. From here you can enjoy truly breathtaking views of Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo from the multi-aspect windows.

Style Notes

Florentine charm. Combining the nonchalant charm of a traditional Italian farmhouse with modern flair, the bright interiors are effortlessly cozy. Set in a historical building which was the embassy of the Duchy of Milan during the 15th century, the property combines old with new: think exposed wooden beams, rustic furniture and pleated window curtains. We love the unique tiled kitchen sink and the gloriously sunny yellow terrace.

Florence, Tuscany

Art, architecture and an antique carousel

Known for its incredible art galleries, architecture and Michelangelo’s David, the capital of Tuscany has plenty for parents with an eye for beauty, and it doesn’t let the younger generation down either. Play hide and seek in Baroque gardens, seek out the best gelateria in the city (you need to test a few to be sure), or ride on the antique carousel in Piazza Repubblica. Take a guided tour of the Uffizi or try a fashion workshop for under 12s at the Gucci Museum. Eat pizza, climb the narrow corridor to the top of the Duomo or buy wooden toys at Bartolucci’s. Then start planning for your return visit.
