Perks for the Parents
This architect-designed and owned minimalistic second-story apartment has a scenic outdoor terrace and sleeps up to 6. It’s an excellent location for a family with children that like to explore, located in the heart of Girona, in the historic medieval quarter. The living room fireplace can be enjoyed from inside or on the outdoor terrace, which has a high railing safe for little ones and ample space to play hopscotch or blow bubbles. The pleasant kitchen offers a communal area for the whole family to plan their city adventures over breakfast.
Why Kids Love it
Kids will love the bedrooms here, which are perfect for siblings to share. They’ll each have a cozy twin bed, with reading lamps and stocked bookshelves within reach for bedtime. The apartment is just 12-15 minutes’ walk to the city’s Devesa park - a huge green space to run off some steam, and it’s within walking distance of the city’s archeological sites, bound to entertain kids with an interest in history.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 5 nights. Rates listed are for 2 guests; extra guests and children are charged at €50 per person per night. Family groups can also book the ground floor Apartment 2 to sleep another 4 guests (10 in total). Ask the hosts for extra bookable services including breakfast, grocery purchases, a private chef, babysitter and daily cleaning. Car hire is a good idea for exploring the coast and surrounding countryside on a longer break; parking in the apartment’s garage is available by arrangement for €25 per night.
About the Location
The apartment is located in the heart of the medieval quarter, walking distance from Girona’s pavement cafés, Michelin-starred restaurants and museums. The nearest small grocery store/market is a 5-minute walk (note that most local cafés are closed from 4pm until 8pm) and it’s 10 minutes walk from the footbridges along the Onyar River. The area is very quiet at night, despite the central location. It’s also well placed for exploring glorious Catalonia by car, for an alternative take on the classic Mediterranean vacation. It’s around 20 minutes from Girona-Costa Brava airport; 80-90 minutes from Barcelona-El Prat Airport by car/taxi.
Accommodation Details
There’s a sunny south-facing outdoor terrace with dining space and scenic views of Girona’s historic Sant Domènec Square, as well as a large, eat-in kitchen with a wide wooden dining table for meal prep, eating or playing board games. The primary bedroom has a queensize bed, while the two children’s bedrooms each have 2 twin beds. The bathroom has a narrow bathtub and separate walk-in shower.
Style Notes
The home has a serene, zen-like atmosphere with smooth concrete floors, natural stone walls and wood and glass accents. With textured stone walls, crisp white linens in the bedrooms and the minimalist décor, the contemporary interiors bring a beautiful contrast to the original 16th century façade in honeyed stone. We love the polished concrete floor, the modern kitchen and the sunken bath.

Girona, Costa Brava
On the Onyar River
This historic city an hour north of Barcelona is known for its restaurants, but don’t panic if your kids aren’t into fine dining, there are fantastic bakeries and riverside cafés here too. Leave the car and stroller at home and pack comfortable shoes for a day wandering the city's cobblestoned streets, its museum and its cathedral. Then explore the coast to the north: a 40-minute drive will take you to fishing villages, Greek ruins and a castle once owned by Salvador Dali.
