Perks for the Parents
An architect-designed pair of apartments with a pool, in a historical building in central Girona. Sleeps 10. This pair of apartments on the ground and first floor provide 2 separate spaces for families to vacation together. The ground floor 2-bedroom apartment has a plunge pool in the private courtyard, bordered on one side by a tall stone wall and on the other by a manicured lawn and ideal for a heady summer’s day after exploring the cobbled streets nearby. The upstairs 3-bedroom apartment has a gorgeous living room and a sunny south-facing terrace.
Why Kids Love it
There 3 different twin rooms in total for kids and siblings to share, and the property has WiFi throughout plus plasma TV with satellite channels and a DVD player so they can relax after busy days seeing the archeological sites in the city. The apartment is just 12-15 minutes’ walk to the city’s Devesa park - a huge green space to run off some steam.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 5 nights. The two apartments can be booked individually for smaller groups of 4 in Apartment 2 or groups of 6 in Apartment 1. Rates listed are for 4 guests; extra guests and children are charged at €50 per person per night. Ask the hosts for extra bookable services including breakfast, grocery purchases, a private chef, high chair, babysitter and daily cleaning. Car hire is a good idea for exploring the coast and surrounding countryside on a longer break; parking in the apartment’s garage is available by arrangement for €25 per night.
About the Location
The apartment is located in the heart of the medieval quarter, walking distance from Girona’s pavement cafés, Michelin-starred restaurants and museums. The nearest small grocery store/market is a 5-minute walk (note that most local cafés are closed from 4pm until 8pm) and it’s 10 minutes walk from the footbridges along the Onyar River. The area is very quiet at night, despite the central location. It’s also well placed for exploring glorious Catalonia by car, for an alternative take on the classic Mediterranean vacation. It’s around 20 minutes from Girona-Costa Brava airport; 80-90 minutes from Barcelona-El Prat Airport by car/taxi.
Accommodation Details
The two units are made up of a ground floor 2-bedroom apartment and a first floor 3-bedroom apartment. Each floor has its own bathroom, kitchen and living room. There is a primary bedroom (queensize) in each apartment; the ground floor has 1 additional twin room and the upstairs has 2 additional twin rooms. The downstairs has a private courtyard garden with pool while the upstairs has a terrace from the living area.
Style Notes
Old meets new. With textured stone walls, crisp white linens in the bedrooms and the minimalist décor, the contemporary interiors bring a beautiful contrast to the original 16th century façade in honeyed stone. We love the clever hidden integrated kitchen and the exposed textures showing the history of the building.

Girona, Costa Brava
On the Onyar River
This historic city an hour north of Barcelona is known for its restaurants, but don’t panic if your kids aren’t into fine dining, there are fantastic bakeries and riverside cafés here too. Leave the car and stroller at home and pack comfortable shoes for a day wandering the city's cobblestoned streets, its museum and its cathedral. Then explore the coast to the north: a 40-minute drive will take you to fishing villages, Greek ruins and a castle once owned by Salvador Dali.
