Perks for the Parents
Escape to the hilly fields of Hampstead and stay at this historic family home, just a few steps from the village and tube station. It sleeps 8. This house is truly one of a kind: centrally located and within easy reach of the city, yet with the appearance of a rural estate. Parents will love the flexible layout and choice of spacious bedrooms, some of which have dressing areas and luxurious ensuites. Everyone can have their own space (or floor) and there’s room for grandparents or a nanny to join you.
Why Kids Love it
This home doesn't come with toys or books for children, but there’s plenty of space to choose your own bedroom and there are lots of family-friendly attractions nearby. Hampstead Heath has a choice of playgrounds, adventure parks, sports courts, an outdoor lido and endless trails for running, cycling or scooting. There’s even a zoo and deer enclosure at Golders Hill Park, on the western side of the Heath (5 minutes’ drive or 15 minutes by subway) and a science observatory for space enthusiasts.
Things to Know
No parties or smoking. The lead guest must be at least 25 years old. All guests will receive a rental agreement prior to their stay which you are required to sign and submit. Pets may be welcome on request. A dog usually lives here but won't be present during stays. Basil the tortoise lives on the patio — he's very friendly but can be taken away for guests on request. He hibernates during winter, so you won't see him then. Whilst the winding stairs are a great feature of this home, they may be unsuitable for crawling babies or toddlers.
About the Location
The house is located in one of London’s most prestigious areas, in the heart of Hampstead. It’s just 2 minutes’ walk to Hampstead station for access to the Northern line, getting you into Kings Cross, Soho or the West End is just 15 minutes. Hampstead Heath station (15 minutes’ walk) is at the base of the heath, for access to the Overground line. Hampstead village offers a charming collection of bakeries, shops, restaurants and pubs so it’s highly walkable. Heathrow airport is around 1 hour away by car or train.
Accommodation Details
This residence has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 4 floors. The basement level is home to a utility room, bathroom (with tub) and kingsize bedroom. Upstairs on the ground level, you’ll find a spacious living/dining room and adjacent kitchen, plus access to the garden. Up again to the first floor, there’s a formal living room and the primary bedroom, boasting a dressing room and ensuite bathroom (with separate shower and standalone bathtub). The top floor features 2 more kingsize bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms.
Style Notes
History meets modernity. The hosts have chosen a mix of eclectic decor and traditional interiors to blend with the classical London surroundings. While the charming shaker style kitchen looks simple and relaxed, the global-inspired artifacts in the living areas add interest and intrigue. We love the inviting slipper bathtub, the rattan wooden bed frame and the rural-style exterior, complete with historic original window shutters.
