A stylish island cottage offering stripped back rustic charm and plenty of contemporary elegance, with beautiful beaches a short walk away. Set in a secluded spot with its own driveway, the cottage offers perfect privacy for those seeking a peaceful vacation base. Interiors and exteriors have been beautifully designed with lots of chill out space and a large, covered terrace with a modern kitchen and gas BBQ for alfresco dining. For active families there are walking paths from the doorstep to local tavernas and secret coves. The cosmopolitan harbor of Fiskardo is just 5 minutes away by car for boutiques, cafes, bakeries and smart, waterside restaurants. The host has 2 other properties on the same estate which can be rented in addition to the cottage to accommodate larger groups: Io House and The Lime Residence.
Why Kids Love it
With accommodation mainly over one level, the cottage is well suited to toddlers and crawlers with shady terraces to explore (though parents should keep an eye due to surrounding steps down to the garden). There’s a Bluetooth audio speaker, a gas BBQ and an outdoor kitchen for fun alfresco meals, and local villages a short drive away for picking up fresh produce. Mini adventurers will enjoy hitting the monopati (walking trails) which lead straight from the cottage to a number of local beaches. Bring a rug to picnic under the shade at one of the tree-fringed local coves where crystal clear waters are ideal for little paddlers and older water babies/snorkelers. A crib and highchair are provided with a baby bath available on request.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 7 nights during the high season though shorter stays will be considered. Please note that although most of the accommodation is set over one level there is a mezzanine with an ungated staircase, steps from the parking area up to the residence with drops down so younger guests should be supervised. There is no bathtub at the property. A housekeeper will visit the property and provide a full linen and towel change on request. There is also a gardener who may attend the property to water plants etc. There is good broadband WiFi, and air conditioning throughout the residence. Private parking is provided; car rental is recommended but not essential, as there are beaches, cafes and tavernas in walking distance. Sorry, no pets. The local footpaths can be rocky so solid footwear is advised. The hosts offer a full concierge service including private boat hire, excursions, massage and tailor-made yoga classes all bookable prior to your holiday or in resort.
About the Location
The residence is nestled on the beautiful northern tip of Kefalonia known for its peaceful coves and trendy harbor towns. There are 2 traditional tavernas, a café and a local store 10 minutes walk away from the cottage. The closest beach is Dafnoudi, a 20-minute walk away along one of the local trails. Most local beaches are pebbly but for those seeking something softer, Alaties bay is semi sandy. Agia Jerusalem is recommended for families with sun beds and parasols for hire in the high season and a beachside taverna serving up relaxed local cuisine. The Smart Venetian town of Fiskardo is just 5 minutes’ drive away – the center is car free with plenty of boutiques, cafes, bars, bakeries and restaurants to explore on foot. Kefalonia Airport is the closest, 1 hour 20 minutes drive.
Accommodation Details
The cottage has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom set over 1 floor. The interior space includes the primary bedroom (accessible from the terrace), an ensuite bathroom and a mezzanine. The bedroom area has 1 double bed, armchairs, wardrobe space and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The mezzanine level is accessible via a short staircase where additional sleeping space can be set up on request. Outside there is a covered terrace area with a padded corner sofa, a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, hob, fridge, gas BBQ and a dining table seating 4. All bedrooms and living areas have air conditioning. Camp beds are available on request.
Style Notes
Rustic chic. Stripped back simplicity and joyous country character is the order of the day here with stone exterior walls and light, white-washed interiors creating a relaxed island base. Bijou style extends to a range of vintage finds dotted throughout including sewing tables, scales and pottery. Contemporary lux design is injected in the furnishings, textiles and art works. We love the outside terraces with the contemporary kitchen, farmhouse table and plenty of nooks to curl up in with a Greek coffee and latest novel.
