The Chemin des Orchidees Residence
Perks for the Parents
This newly built lakeside home with a heated pool and views of the lake and mountains comes with the family Volvo truck, bicycles, ski equipment, a kayak and paddleboard. It would be ideal for 2 adults and up to 4 young kids. An exchange here would be perfect in summer or winter. In summer, you can relax next to the heated pool, go kayaking or paddleboarding on the lake or pack a picnic and explore the forest trails that start in the backyard. In winter, there’s downhill and cross-country skiing with guaranteed snow while inside, there’s a fireplace for snuggling up and a fully equipped kitchen. The host owns a coffee shop that’s 1km from the house – needless to say the coffee machine at the residence is superb.
Why Kids Love it
There are plenty of toys, inside and outside and a dedicated play / games room. There are ducks and a turtle in the pond. Active kids will love it here – there is private lake access that’s a 3-minute walk from the house – a kayak, paddleboard and life jackets are provided. Trails for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, hiking and back country skiing start from the land here. A downhill ski center is about 15 minutes’ drive away. There are 5 bicycles and helmets that will be available for guests to use. The kids’ room is cute and has 4 toddler beds so they can all have fun sleeping together. There’s so much space here for kids to play, run and laugh out loud!
Things to Know
There is no minimum stay. The residence has 2 lovely cats that may or may not be there during your stay – they are declawed and accustomed to kids if you choose to have them in the house. The host runs a daycare center and can borrow any extra kids’ equipment you may need. Organic and healthy catering can be ordered for your stay and provided through the host’s coffee shop. Safety notes: there is direct access from the property to the lake and a pond so non-swimmers should be supervised. Children should take care on the upstairs balcony and around the open wood stove in the living room. The pool is fenced and heated. It’s essential to have a car to explore here and the host’s family Volvo can be included in the exchange. Additional housekeeping is available for an extra fee by request.

Style Notes
Calm, spacious and beautiful. This recently built white and bright farmhouse is peaceful and quiet and is the perfect place to reconnect with nature. Light floods in through the large picture window and views of the lake are ever present in almost every room. The living room has a country feel with a wood paneled wall, soft rugs and a woodburning stove. The kitchen is pretty with duck egg blue doors with stone and wood countertops. We love the fun hammock chairs that are suspended in the dining room, the wealth of outdoor activities afforded by staying here, and the to-die-for views of the lake and mountains – you’ll never want to leave.
