Perks for the Parents
Retreat to this peaceful hill-top hideaway in Axarquia, Andalusia which has a private swimming pool, cool kids bunk room and stunning mountain views. It sleeps up to 12. This is a great vacation spot for families, with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the sun and an easy trip to the coast for sandy beaches. One of the 5 bedrooms is located in a separate guest house, so it’s ideal for parents traveling with grandparents or a nanny - and there’s enough bedrooms for 2 or 3 families to share. Spend your days hiking in the hills, swimming in the pool or discovering the historic city of Malaga - returning to this luxurious and stylish villa to enjoy some peace and quiet in this tranquil scenic spot.
Why Kids Love it
The villa is completely fenced in for safety, and has lots of toys and board games to entertain kids under 6. The host can provide a high chair, baby bath, changing mat and crib plus baby bed linen on request. For older kids and teens, there’s a ping pong table, darts board and of course the fantastic swimming pool. Children of all ages will love the amazing bunk room - perfect for sharing with siblings, cousins or friends! All along the coast at Malaga there are family-friendly activities to enjoy: from segway hire and historic castles to explore, to thrilling ferris wheels, waterparks and watersports on the beach.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 5 nights in low season, 7 nights in mid/high season. The pool can be heated in winter for an additional fee of 150EUR per week. The price listed is for up to 6 guests. There is an extra charge for 7 - 12 guests. Please contact host for accurate pricing. Safety notes: there are 2 high steps to enter the villa which would be difficult for buggies or wheelchairs. The pool is not covered or gated so younger children will need supervision. There’s space to park 3 cars and car rental is essential. Ask the hosts about arranging a private massage in the villa, recommendations for babysitters (Dutch, English or Spanish speaking) or booking a private chef to cook for your family. The hosts also have 1 camp bed available on request for additional guests. There is a separate charge for AC usage, please contact the host for further details. Take a look at the host’s other holiday home to rent in Andalucia: Villa Pepita.
About the Location
This villa is located in tranquil Axarquia, just half an hour from Malaga in Andalusia, Spain. This peaceful area in the hills offers breathtaking views of the Axarquia mountains, just outside the white village of Colmenar (10 minutes’ walk). Here you can enjoy a quiet relaxing holiday, not too far away from the hustle and bustle of life. It’s a paradise for hikers and nature lovers, especially outside of high summer: head to Las Peñas de Cabrera hiking trail for some spectacular landscapes (10 minutes’ drive) or explore the parkland of El Torcal de Antequera national nature reserve. The sights of Malaga city are just 30 minutes away (where you’ll find shops, supermarkets, tourist sights, museums and endless beaches). The popular resort of Marbella is 50 minutes’ drive and the cities of Granada, Cordoba, Seville and Ronda are 1-2 hours away.
Accommodation Details
The villa has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 2 buildings. In the main house, there are 2 large queen bedrooms, 1 king bedroom, and 1 children's bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds (sleeping 4), as well as 3 bathrooms. Outside there is a separate guesthouse with another queen bedroom and bathroom (located about 5 meters from the villa). Four of the bathrooms have walk-in showers, and there is 1 family bathroom with a bathtub. The contemporary living space has an open plan layout, with a modern kitchen and island leading to a dining area and a cozy lounge with fireplace. Outside, there’s a large shaded dining area for al fresco meals, as well as a large outdoor kitchen with Ofyr BBQ and plancha, spacious lounging areas, the swimming pool with private outdoor shower and plenty of sunbeds to enjoy the sunny days. Both kitchens are fully equipped for budding chefs, with everything you need to cook for your guests.
Style Notes
Boho meets minimalism. This stunning villa has been carefully curated by the hosts, who are experts in furnishing holiday homes. They’ve combined laid-back Bohemian styles with unique vintage finds, balanced with contemporary touches such as concrete kitchen countertops and black hardware in the bathrooms. The walls are consistent throughout, with a simple bare plaster effect, paired with calming beige, ecru and neutral tones to create a zen-like atmosphere to help you relax during your stay. We love the rustic wood kitchen cabinets, the rough textures and natural rattan materials used throughout and the retro-style palm print sun loungers.
