Perks for the Parents
This 4-bedroom house is walking distance from Ditch Plains beach in a lovely community and includes plenty of toys, books and games for kids. It sleeps 10. Located on a quiet street in a family neighborhood, each floor has a full bathroom and 2 bedrooms with 2 queensize beds and 2 twin beds. It works well for 1-2 families traveling together. WiFi and cable TV is included, not to mention all you the supplies you'd need for a day of fun at the beach.
Why Kids Love it
The house is in a fun beach community with a great yard with a trampoline and plenty of games, books, DVDs and toys. There are lots of terrific outdoor activities nearby: the kids could learn to surf, take bike rides along coastal trails or take their pick from food trucks for lunch or dinner. Ditch Plains beach has tide pools and surfers to watch. Children's bedrooms have space to add a travel crib, if you rent one or bring one with you.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 7 nights. July trips to be booked from Saturday to Saturday. To accommodate further guests air beds can be added on request. Car rental is advised for this location - there is parking at the property. Note that parking at Ditch Beach itself is paid-for and expensive. The beach is a 15 minute walk, a 5 minute bike ride, or you can drive and drop supplies off, park at the house and walk to the beach. Pets are considered on request for an additional fee. Full beach gear is on hand (towels, chairs, umbrellas, paddle board, and surf boards) and there are bikes for kids 8 and up, with smaller kids bikes available on request.
About the Location
The home is located in Ditch Plains, Montauk's famous beach/surfing community. Montauk is also known for great restaurants, public parks and beach/water sports of all kinds. The house is an easy 10 minute walk to the beach, or a 5 minute bike ride. Town has a wide array of shops and family friendly eateries. Approximately 3 hours’ drive from New York City at the far end of Long Island, the vibe is a more casual, low key feel than the Hamptons. The closest international airports are in New York City.
Accommodation Details
This 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom beach house is set over 2 floors. The main floor has an open living room, dining room, kitchen and fireplace with deck, plus an outdoor shower and gas grill in the manicured backyard. Each floor has a full bathroom with shower and tub, plus 2 bedrooms with 2 queensize beds and 2 twin beds. A fold out couch sleeps additional people, if needed. There is a fully stocked shed with surfboards, bikes, beach equipment and games/toys for all ages. A new fire pit in the backyard is an added bonus for evening smores and the outdoor shower makes clean up much easier after a day at the beach.
Style Notes
Beach cottage. Low key yet relaxing, with an easy-going charm, this beach cottage fits the Ditch Plains vibe completely. Open plan with a modern feel, it includes a wood-burning fireplace in casual living/dining room for colder nights. We love the pretty, clutter-free bedrooms and the backyard, ideal for sunny days spent with the kids in the fresh beach air.

Montauk, The Hamptons
Unspoilt beaches beyond the Hamptons
At the furthest reaches of Long Island, just beyond the Hamptons, Montauk is still reachable for a weekend break to remember. And what a weekend break it will be: spend your days playing in the sand on unspoilt beaches, trying out watersports - surfing is really popular year-round - and hiking and kayaking around beautiful headlands.
