Perks for the Parents
This 2-bedroom, kid-friendly residence in Culloden Shores looks out onto a peaceful pond and is 2 blocks from a sandy, private beach. It sleeps up to 6. The house is located on a quiet, dead-end road and has a spacious interior, deck and backyard. A Dutch (split) kitchen door means keeping an eye on the kids is a breeze, as you cook dinner and they play outside. There is a family bathroom with shower and bath for the kiddos, as well as an outdoor shower for those sandy summer nights.
Why Kids Love it
There is so much nature to explore, and room to run around inside and outside. The place is well-stocked with the essentials: a pack n’ play; kids' plates, cups and utensils; books and toys. Plus, a pop-up VW bus tent; beach wagon and toys, umbrella, towels, Radio Flyer wagon, water table, tricycle and kids' cornhole (there's a set for the adults, too). There are 2 bikes and 2 electric scooters to borrow. Kids can spot the local bunny who visits at dawn and dusk.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 14 nights May through August, shorter stays upon request. 4 nights the rest of the year. The hosts include a bottle of local wine as a welcome gift to guests. The house is safe and secure with unique keyless entry codes provided to each new guest. Towels and linens are provided. The house has central heating, air conditioning and ceiling fans. The smart TV has free access to Netflix, HULU, Amazon Prime, HBO, MLB and FoxSports. There is a flight of steps to access the neighborhood beach. A lifeguard operates on the beach during high season. Montauk Airport is a 15-minute drive.
About the Location
Montauk is known for its wild beaches, nature walks, lighthouse, live music, family-friendly restaurants and all-around summer magic. This neighborhood in particular, Culloden Shores, is one of the few that has beaches and restaurants within walking distance and is full of young families. There are playgrounds and free-to-use pools (2 have cafes) a short drive away. The train station is a 5-minute drive away, with trains regularly coming in from NYC, as well as regular buses (the Jitney) to and from the city.
Accommodation Details
The house has 2 bedrooms – the primary has a queensize bed, ensuite bathroom and sliding glass doors to a patio. The other bedroom has a full / double bed. A pack-n-play is available for babies and the bedrooms each have a folding room divider for families sharing with a baby wishing for more privacy. The living room also has an open fire with fire guards. There’s a kitchen/ dining area with a table seating up to 6 and a guest washroom. Outside is a backyard and deck with outdoor dining furniture and a gas grill.
Style Notes
Beach house style. Designed in the 1960s by modernist architect Andrew Geller, this recently renovated house is a well-designed combination of original mid-century accents and modern amenities – all done in a family-friendly way. There are huge windows, cathedral ceilings and new hardwood floors throughout. We love the deep blue kitchen with marble countertops, the fairy lights on the spacious deck, and the easy proximity of a lovely beach.

Montauk, The Hamptons
Unspoilt beaches beyond the Hamptons
At the furthest reaches of Long Island, just beyond the Hamptons, Montauk is still reachable for a weekend break to remember. And what a weekend break it will be: spend your days playing in the sand on unspoilt beaches, trying out watersports - surfing is really popular year-round - and hiking and kayaking around beautiful headlands.
