Perks for the Parents

This fully-staffed villa in the exclusive Old Fort Bay Club in Nassau is surrounded by a lush, tropical garden, and is the balmy Bahamas at its best. Daily breakfast and housekeeping is provided, so parents can kick back and relax while the kids play. With the purchase of a weekly club pass, the house has access to the Old Fort Bay Club’s facilities including its staffed beach, restaurant, bar and gym, and an Olympic-sized lap pool that adults and kids can use at any time.

Why Kids Love it

The house is fully-equipped for kids with all the kit you could need: high chairs, car seats, cribs, strollers and more. Karla, the villa’s housekeeper, can babysit for an additional fee. The twin bedroom is ideal for kids. There is a huge private garden so they can play at home. The white sand beach is really close at the Old Fort Bay Club (accessible only with the purchase of a weekly pass), where there is also a great kids pool. One golf cart is included to get around the local area.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights (except Dec 1st - Jan 5th where there is a 14 night min). Weekly passes to the Old Fort Bay Club are required for use of the facilities, including the beach and the pool. They can be arranged by the hosts at the fee of $5500 per week plus 2.9% processing fee and will be charged by Kid & Coe. Other beaches are accessible about 12 minutes drive from the house without the purchase of the weekly pass. The housekeeper Karla will greet you on arrival and provides breakfast and a daily cleaning service. She can babysit and prepare other meals for an extra fee ($25/hr). Airport transfers are included. The house has an extensive DVD collection, Apple TV access and wireless internet. There no stairgates and breakables may need to be moved out of the reach of young children. There is one golf cart for use by guests, and this is included in the price.

About the Location

The villa is in Old Fort Bay, a luxury community with marinas, yacht clubs and beaches in the northwest of Nassau. It is a 10-minute drive from the airport with everything you could need within a 10-15 minute drive. It is a beautiful and convenient location with the most coveted beach on the island, just a short walk from the house (accessible only with a weekly pass purchase). Two other lovely beaches are a 12 minute drive north or south of the property. Nearby, there is a gourmet farmer’s market, grocery store, hospital, 24-hour doctor and beauty services.

Accommodation Details

This villa has 4 comfortable bedrooms, 3 with queen beds and 1 with twins. Downstairs there is a cozy lounge with fully-stocked bookshelf and louvered veranda for outside dining and living. The luscious garden also includes a beach, swing set, zip line, tree house and fire pit.

Style Notes

The house has been created with a relaxed and colourful design, making it both comfortable for adults and kid-friendly. There are no white sofas! Bright light floods the house. We love the rattan furniture, the colonial-chic feel and the beautiful linens throughout.

Nassau, The Bahamas

Pirates and waterslides

The Bahamian capital is its buzziest isle, chock-full of upmarket resorts and family attractions, encircled by tropical palm-fringed beaches. At its historical heart are pink Georgian buildings, ancient forts, pastel-hued stores, ‘straw markets’ and horse-drawn carts to spin you round the sights.

Very comfortable home - we were five adults and two kids (ages 5 and 2) - and very child-friendly. The house is spacious, quiet and nicely furnished, and the setting is beautiful. And as others have noted, Karla is a gem! Also, the house is a very short walk to the Club (although the kids preferred the golf cart). The Club itself is great - very friendly and accommodating staff, first-class restaurant, and a beautiful and peaceful beach. On the whole, a perfect vacation - and my grandchildren are still asking when we can go back to the pink house!
