There are plenty of children’s books and a large open plan family room to relax in. A high chair, travel crib (bring your own linen), and changing mat are provided along with a bamboo toddler mug and plate set for younger guests. The hosts run a wood fired pizza night on Tuesday & Saturday nights; barn guests are welcome to join for £10 per head.

The football pitch in the field is shared between the holiday cottage and glamping guests. Note that guests must bring their own linen for the travel crib. There is a bath and a non-slip bath mat. We live in the UK on a farm but love exploring cities and Europe for mini breaks from our busy lives.

New Forest, Hampshire

Wild ponies and Peppa Pig

Known for its wild ponies, heathlands and forest trails, the New Forest is a family-friendly area of southern England perfect for a countryside break. Spot old cars and ancient gardens at Beaulieu, explore by horseback or spend sunny days at sandy beaches nearby. Paultons Park, a theme park encompassing Peppa Pig Land, is also just a short drive away.

We had an amazing time here. We were two families staying together with plenty of space. The kids were able to feed the baby lambs in the farm shed which they loved. And they spent hours playing outside on the ride on and with the balls and table tennis, the pizza night was also a great bonus for our arrival!

Despite rather inclement weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our short break at the barn. The accommodation was well presented with plenty of room and a simple clean line decor. The staff were very welcoming and the honesty shop covered all those little things you forgot!! The children enjoyed visiting the animals and generally having a muddy old time on the local walks.

We had an amazing time at the Hay Barn! There's plenty of room for 2 families to share - the social space is big and there's lots of outdoor space too, where chickens are roaming free (much to the delight of our kids)! The house is directly in front of a large farm shed which houses cattle and a large covered play area with ride-ons, basketball hoop etc - great entertainment for kids of all ages and you can spend hours here without having to go out for days out. We visited in December but I imagine it's even better in summer! The hosts also provided a delicious breakfast hamper and you can order supermarket deliveries too. We found a lovely Thai restaurant 10 mins away, visited a sandy beach with a playground 25 mins away, and there are lots of cozy country pubs in the area. It's just a few minutes drive into the New Forest protected area and our kids loved seeing the wild donkeys and ponies walking around in the street!

We had a fantastic stay at Gambledown. The house was perfect for our needs and was such a treat to be able to order meals just to be heated versus having to cook for the family over the weekend. Our 3 year old loved walking around the farm and seeing the animals and we were a close drive from a few fun parks and activities for kids. Staff was lovely and helpful. Highly recommend and likely to stay again!

We had an idyllic stay at Gambledown. Our daughters loved collecting fresh eggs every morning and the area was absolutely perfect for quiet days or exploring the nearby attractions. The house itself was immaculate and perfectly set up. The girls loved their bedroom and we loved having a quiet hideaway. We would absolutely return and recommend Gambledown to anyone looking for a place to relax and enjoy the countryside.
