Perks for the Parents

A highly walkable apartment in Notting Hill, close to great shopping, eateries and public transport links. Sleeps 4. This residence is housed within a charming period terrace, on a vibrant street dotted with local pubs and eateries. Notting Hill’s famous Portobello Road Market is within easy reach, as is the desirable Westbourne Grove (4 minutes’ walk) and it’s just a 6-minute stroll to the tube.

Why Kids Love it

While the apartment doesn’t come with toys or books for little ones, it’s well placed for city adventures. It’s just across the street from a small local playground and it’s also within walking distance of Hyde Park (20 minutes on foot) where you’ll find the best playground in the city: the Princess Diana Memorial playground on the west side of the park. Teens will love exploring nearby Portobello Road street market, where there’s also an independent cinema, vibrant shopping areas and Instagram-worthy cafes.

Things to Know

This home doesn't have air-conditioning. Between June and September, the hosts will place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period. The entrance to the shower in this home is very narrow. There are steps up to the entrance of this home and no internal elevator. Due to one of the neighbours smoking, there can be an aroma of cigarettes in parts of the home as well as in the communal areas of the building. About the Location

This residence is less than 5 minutes’ walk from Westbourne Grove, the premier shopping street in Notting Hill. You’ll find excellent restaurants, trendy cafes and traditional pubs as well as global stores and independent boutiques all along this road. It’s also less than 15 minutes’ walk to Notting Hill Gate, and just 10 minutes to Portobello Road, with its famous street market. The nearest tube stations are Westbourne Park (10 minutes) or Royal Oak (6 minutes).

Accommodation Details

The apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set on the second floor of the building up from street level. The main room includes an open plan living/dining area which leads to a L-shaped kitchen. Both bedrooms have kingsize beds, the smaller of which also has access to a compact balcony. The bathroom has a walk-in shower; there is no bathtub.

Style Notes

Colorful city pad. The living areas are impeccably styled, with sleekly restored original details, contemporary furnishings and lots of bold artwork. The two pale-painted bedrooms are sleek and neat, with a modern bathroom furnished in marble and mirrors, with a smart mosaic-tiled shower. We love the subtle retro styles in the living space, the original old fireplace and the neutral, calm kitchen.

Notting Hill, London

Movie stars, museums and the market

This pretty, arty and desirable area of West London has characterful streets of Georgian and Victorian houses, the vibrant Portobello Market on a Saturday and easy access to the rest the city. Close to Kensington Garden and Palace, it has Gloucester Road’s blockbuster museums on the doorstep, including the V&A, Natural History Museum and Science Museum. And - tell the kids - it’s also the area that Paddington Bear calls home.
