This smart Provençal residence is walking distance from the center of beautiful Saint-Rémy-de-Provence with shops, art galleries, restaurants, and wonderful walks into the Alpilles mountains. It sleeps 6. Close to the village yet offering peace and privacy with a fully fenced lawned garden, a sun deck and loungers, and its own swimming pool. For laid back days at home there’s a shaded alfresco dining/BBQ area, and the house is fully airconditioned for keeping cool on warmer days. The bustling village atmosphere of Saint Rémy de Provence will appeal to all the family with cobbled streets, laid back restaurants and pretty town squares where parents can enjoy a coffee while the kids play. For the outdoorsy there are hiking and biking trails from the doorstep, as well as kayaking a 30-minute drive away. The pretty beaches of the south coast can be reached in an hour by car.
Why Kids Love it
Kids will soon feel at home at this colorful villa with its warm, bright interiors and garden to play in. The pool is just the right size for splash abouts, and the manicured lawns are perfect for picnics. The local village is one of the most vibrant in the region, and is close enough for independent teens to walk to. It has a playground, tennis courts, a skate park and many shops – ideal for picking up local produce for a BBQ back at home. Kids can play safely in the narrow streets, and there are a number of shady squares with space to run around. For adventurous kids there are plenty of activities on offer, from horse riding, cooking classes and climbing to local biking trails into the mountains. A highchair, baby toys and a baby bath can be provided on request.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 7 nights in July and August, with Saturday arrivals. Minimum stay for the rest of the year: 5 nights. The house is safe and secure with a fully fenced garden and an electric gate. There is WiFi and air conditioning throughout the property. Guests are welcome to use the barbecue for outdoor dining. There is parking on site for up to 2 cars at the side of the house. You don’t need a car to access the local village, although car hire is recommended to explore the wider area. The host can help arrange babysitters and in-house catering on request. Pets are welcome; please let the hosts know at the time of booking. French tourist tax to be paid directly to the host at check in (per adult only and per night).
About the Location
The residence is located in charming Saint-Rémy-de-Provence at the foothills of the Alpilles mountains. It is an excellent location for biking and walking with many trails close by. The proximity to the village means that guests can access the center on foot in about 20 minutes, or 5 minutes by car. St-Rémy is a historic market town with lots of restaurants, bakeries, cafes, bars and a bustling atmosphere. Other major towns close by include Arles (35 minutes), Avignon (35 minutes) and Nîmes (50 minutes). There are many small and attractive villages in the area including Eygalières and the historic fortress town of Les Baux. The nearest beach is in Les Saintes Maries de la Mer, capital of the Camargue, 1 hour away by car while the pretty coastal areas of Bandol and Cassis are a 1.5 hour drive. The closest international airport is Marseilles, about a 50-minute drive; Avignon is a 35-minute drive away with a train station serving TGV trains from Paris.
Accommodation Details
The residence has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms set over 2 floors. On the ground floor is an open plan kitchen/living/dining room. The living area has a large sofa and a TV, with large bay windows overlooking the garden. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything a guest would expect including a coffee maker, a dishwasher and an island seating 4 on bar stools. The contemporary dining table is just behind seating up to 8. There is 1 bedroom with a double bed on the ground floor and an adjoining bathroom, featuring a bathtub and a walk in shower. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms with large double beds and a shower room. Outside space is a mix of lawns and terraces with a beautiful swimming/plunge pool. The sun deck surrounding the pool has 4 sun loungers and 2 armchairs. There’s a shaded terrace with an alfresco dining table for 8 and a BBQ for making the most of the warm summer days.
