Things to Know

Please let the host know if you require this option. The hosts can stock the fridge prior to your arrival on request. Note that this property does not accept pets and is non-smoking. It is wheelchair accessible, and includes a wood-burning fireplace, fresh flowers and firewood.

About the Location

The residence is in Kelvin Grove, located off Old Demere next to Bloody Marsh in the heart of St. Simon's Island, Georgia. The neighborhood has only one entrance so there is no through traffic. It is an active family neighborhood with kids and homeowners out walking dogs and visiting. The owners live in the area. There are beaches a short drive away and the main town strip, with restaurants and shops, is under a mile away. Car rental is useful for this destination; perhaps the best way to get around is by bike or golf cart rental, which can be arranged in consultation with the host.

Style Notes

Modern classic. The Fig House is a newly renovated mid-century modern located in the Kelvin Grove neighborhood next to Bloody Marsh in the heart of Saint Simon's Island. Clean lines, open living floor plan and carefully designed outdoor living spaces make this house a one-of-a-kind for the area. White walls, succulents, fig trees and wooden accents add character and style. We love the large scale and colorful modern art in the bedrooms and lounge, the cozy family spaces inside and out, the curated plant collections and the mid-century chairs around the kitchen table.

Saint Simon's Island, Georgia

In the southern quarter of Georgia's coast, between Jacksonville FL and Savannah, St. Simon's Island or 'The Island' as locals have it, is an oasis of calm, wide sandy beaches, golf courses and unspoilt habitats. Regularly voted one of America's favorite beach towns, it boasts great restaurants and an easy-living charm. Rent a boat and visit the pristine beaches of Little St. Simon's Island, play in Neptune's park which has a children's playground, a miniature golf course and swimming pool, and explore the many waterways by kayak or canoe.

To say we enjoyed our week at the fig house is an understatement! Our expectations for SSI and this little gem of a house are always exceeded. We should have written a review after our first visit, but we just completed our third week-long trip. We’ve now been coming every fall since 2021, so clearly we love it enough to keep coming back for more! The Fig House has nearly everything you will need and plenty of space. We are a family of 4 with two small children and really couldn’t ask for a better house for our crew. We especially love that it thoughtfully includes essentials like a pack and play, kids utensils, and a high chair. We cooked a lot, and we spent many fall afternoons enjoying time in the heated pool. The backyard/pool area is magestically draped with a more than generous amount of Spanish Moss hanging from a centuries-old Grand Oak that, with it’s front yard counterpart, literally envelops the entire property in atmosphere that can’t be adequately described, only experienced. We live in the lowcountry, so we can say with authority that the Spanish Moss and Grand Oaks on St. Simons and Jekyll are truly in a league of their own, having apparently been mostly spared by the worst of storms past. To experience this magic at its peak, be sure to visit Fort Frederica National Monument during your stay. We brought bikes to ride EVERYWHERE. The house is spacious, unique, and is decorated in a way that makes me want to hire the designer for my own house. As we’ve reviewed the photos we took on vacation, we realized that these pictures will make the holiday card! Whether taken inside or out, the property photographs superbly; the online photos match real-life aesthetics perfectly. Not surprisingly at the “fig house” there are plenty of fiddle leaf figs on display, some gorgeous and others a little worse for the wear, but that just adds to the charm! From experience we know they are needy little plants, so we commend the owners for the effort and attention to detail! As an added bonus, if you happen to be a worm, you'll find the Fig House to be a book lover's paradise with a well-curated and extenstive-for-a-rental library at your disposal. The neighborhood consistently gives us the impression that it is safe and friendly. Although the house is not a quick walk to the beach, it’s only 10 minutes by an enjoyable bike ride, so we found ourselves going multiple times a day just to get a little fresh air and enjoy the sights along the way. Be sure to visit Gould’s Inlet for a view into just how drastically the tides shape the coastal landscape of this part of Georgia and South Carolina. If you’re a fan of general aviation, you’ll be excited to know the St. Simons airport is the “hub” of this part of the island with amazing plane spotting opportunities. You’ll see Gulfstreams and Cesnas and everything in between! At the house you can sometimes hear the roar of larger jets coming and going, but it isn’t bothersome and is all part of the ambiance. If it happens to rain at all during your stay, you may also love the sounds of the storm on the living room roof. If you’ve never visited SSI, you can ride bikes or use a golf cart to get anywhere you need to go. The adorable town is full of friendly people who are always throwing up an arm to wave hello, which I think our two kids adored as much as we did. Our almost-1-year-old learned to say “hi” and “bye” on our most recent visit, and it was no coincidence! The entire island is family friendly, making us feel much more comfortable and welcome than we do in our own hometown with a toddler and a baby. A few of our favorite spots include: Wake Up Coffee (this place is consistently more and more busy each year), Dulce Dough (the best donuts we’ve ever had), Sweet Mamas (pork pops, enough said), Tramici for good Italian food, Echo at King and Prince for a cocktail on their beachfront lawn, and The Cottage Custard for an ice cream break and play time for the kiddos, La Plancha for solid Mexican. We’ve now experienced at least 4 local playgrounds, all bikeable, and love discovering more about St. Simons with each visit. We’ve also taken a day trip to Jekyll Island and had the most wonderful time exploring the historic district, driftwood beach, and (you guessed it) riding bikes along the stunning ocean front. A few things to note: there are plenty of beach towels to borrow at the house, but bring your own beach chairs and pool toys/floats. If you plan on doing laundry during your visit (if you also have tiny humans who easily get their clothes dirty), bring detergent. A hairdryer is one thing I forgot to pack the first year. We will definitely keep returning to SSI, and though I’m sure there are many quaint places to stay, I think we would be hard-pressed to find a place as perfect for our family as The Fig House. Don’t delay in making a reservation, just be sure to leave some room for us next October! Thanks for another memorable week!

We are a family of four with a 23 & 19 year old. We absolutely loved this rental. The house is just as described & wonderful location. The highlights for our boys were the ping pong table, swimming pool & chess set. The weather was perfect during our stay. It was our first time visiting St. Simon & it did not disappoint.

We had a great time during our stay at The Fig House and exploring St. Simons Island! The local information and recommendations were helpful and the owner was very responsive to any questions/inquiries. The location provided easy access to beaches, shops, and restaurants and the house itself was wonderful with plenty of toys and books for the kids and both the kids and the parents enjoyed the pool on the warm, sunny summer days! Would love to return next summer. Thank you!!

This house we rented on St. Simon’s Island was one of the best vacation rentals I have ever stayed in. There was plenty of space for our family of 7, a great kitchen, a play area off the kitchen, a swing, toys & games, pack n play and high chair and the best part: an awesome pool area. The pool area had the perfect size pool for our family that was heated. It was plenty warm for swimming in November and the kids loved it. There was a great outdoor area around the pool too. We loved all of the games at the house. We played more checkers games than I can count! There was plenty of space for Tom to have quiet while working. For sleeping there were 3 bedrooms, one of which had 2 sets of bunks so we had plenty of space. The house was also in a perfect location for exploring the island. In just minutes you could get everywhere you’d want to go.

We really liked this lovely and very clean home. The pool was stunning and there’s so much to do in the area. I highly recommend renting a golf cart to get around. The beach nearby was fantastic, too!

We traveled to the location for work and brought our two little boys and babysitter. The house was perfect for us! We loved the beautiful, yet casual aesthetic. The house had toys and everything we could have needed for our young kids. The outdoor area is beautiful, I felt like we were in a magazine. The perfect mix of beauty and practicality (having a washer and dryer was AMAZING). Ever since we've gotten home our son has asked to go back to the "vacation house" it was that good! We'd love to stay at this home again for a longer period and just for fun :)

We loved the house and the convenience of the location. Well outfitted, comfortable, attractive yet homey. Only suggestion is that the light at the front door is out so it was dark coming in and out at night.

We loved our stay at The Fig House. It was perfect for our family. Bryce and Sara were great hosts and very communicative with us prior to the visit. The house has everything you need to be comfortable: pack n play, high chair, fun toys, puzzles, comfortable beds and a reading nook for adults, beautiful live oaks with Spanish moss (not necessary for comfort but definitely a plus) - we absolutely loved it. Thanks to the Brock family for letting us stay in this little slice of heaven.

The Fig House is a beautiful property - so fun and beautifully decorated! Wish the pool had been a bit warmer, but would probably be better in summer vs. late spring. Fun kids toys, and lots of books for adults to enjoy.

From the moment we arrived, we were enthralled by the fig house. My (city) kids were enamored with the space, my son insisted we should move to Georgia, and my daughter loved playing table tennis and then sprawling out on the cozy daybed. My husband and I enjoyed the tasteful, detailed design of the house, the elegant landscaping choices and the historic trees, and we all loved the gorgeous neighborhood beaches. Bryce was a wonderful host who truly went the extra mile to make us feel right at home. We are grateful for a lovely trip, and we would love to come back.

We had the best time at Bryce beautiful house on St. Simons Island. We were traveling with a baby and a four-year-old and had everything we needed for the kids and for us. There was plenty of toys which our older son loved and played with all the time during our stay. For our baby daughter there was also baby toys, a high chair and a pack n play. The house, interior and exterior is designed beautifully as seen on the pictures if not even better. The neighborhood is nice and not far away from the beach. There was so much to do on the island and Bryce had left us a couple of recommendations. But we felt so comfortable in the house and at the pool that we spend a lot of time at home. The kitchen was perfect with a good coffee maker etc. The beds were so comfortable, too. I could go on forever. This place had everything for us we were looking for on our holiday. Thanks Bryce.
