Perks for the Parents

A super stylish ranch with its own beach and swim pond, bikes to borrow and mountainous views, a short drive from the coast and Santa Ynez wine country. It sleeps 16 + 1. Home to a family with 4 kids, the residence is well set up for all ages with everything from bed rails and sleep machines to air filters and humidifiers available to borrow. There’s enough space to accommodate large groups without compromising on privacy, with the 2 kids' bunkrooms set away from the 3 kingsize bedrooms. The primary is additionally luxurious with its own ensuite vintage bathtub and direct access to a deck with an in-ground jacuzzi. Set on 167 acres of land, there’s plenty more space, and entertainment, to be had outside including an alfresco dining and BBQ area, a golfing green, a swimming pond and beach, and a relaxing porch with rocking chairs for sitting out on balmy evenings. There are numerous hiking trails straight from the doorstep and the restaurants and stores of Lompoc are a short drive away so parents can enjoy getting away from it all, while being close to everything they might need.

Why Kids Love it

Kids can embrace real ranch living at this spacious residence with plenty of space inside and out to play and explore in. There are toys, books and games for all ages with a games console, a TV and DVD player inside, and basketball, ping pong and swimming outside. The swim pond features its own sandy beach with shallow entry into the water so is ideal for little paddlers as well those keen to jump right in from the dive platform. For kids who love animals, the ranch is set on a farm with cows, horses and chickens to meet. Outdoorsy kids can borrow bikes and there are plenty of local dirt roads to explore as well as hiking trails across the estate. Water babies will be pleased to know the closest beach is just 15 minutes away with plenty of excellent surf spots. The hosts are well set up for kids and can provide a crib, a highchair, a pack n play, a baby bath, change table and stair gates as well as babysitter recommendations. Baby-proofing (of outlet covers etc.) can be done prior to arrival for an additional fee. There are also sleep machines, baby monitors, air filters and humidifiers to borrow on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. The ranch is part of a farm with various animals so parents are kindly asked to supervise their kids around them. The pond is set away from the house but is not fully gated so younger ones should be supervised around it. The in-built jacuzzi is also unfenced so kids should be monitored whilst outside. There is an indoor working fireplace but fireguards are provided. The 2 kids’ bunkrooms are in a separate building just a few steps from the main house. There are multiple sleeping pads for kids to sleep on the floor of the main home if they don't like the bunk house or need to be in the room with mom and dad. The ranch has WiFi, air conditioning and a washer/dryer. There is private parking on site; a car is recommended for ease of getting around. There are security cameras on the premises. The hosts are happy to help arrange for in-house catering, babysitters etc. Sorry, no pets.

About the Location

The ranch is located just off Route 1 not far from the picturesque Californian coastline. The Santa Ynez Valley and wineries are 35 minutes away offering up plenty of vineyards and wine tours as well as some Danish culture in Solvang. Style Notes

Modern ranch. Carefully renovated in 2021, the hosts have blended contemporary style and comfort with classic ranch style. Wood floors, chic colorful bathrooms and a sleek, walnut kitchen add warmth and characterful modernity into the mix. Original stone has been preserved throughout, alongside period wood burning fireplaces for cozy nights in. Large picture windows draw in the views, and natural light, with doors opening up onto the deck and porch from the house for easy indoor/outdoor living. We love the bathroom in the primary bedroom with its cast iron soaking tub, walk in shower and picture window showcasing the mountain views. The swim pond and beach are a wonderful place to gather for fun, laid back sunny days at home with alfresco tables, festoon lighting and heat lamps to keep the party atmosphere going post sundown.

Santa Barbara, California

Wine country, palm-fringed beaches and family fun

On the central Californian coast, Santa Barbara brings together wine country, sandy beaches and family attractions to create a fantastic family vacation destination. From the palm-fringed beaches to the shark-touching tank at the Museum of Natural History Sea Center, the beach cafés and lush parks, not to mention the small but perfectly formed zoo, Santa Barbara caters for families exceptionally well. Active kids will love sea kayaking, hiking trails in state parks and bike rides along Cabrillo Boulevard. It’s what beach cruisers were made for.
