Perks for the Parents
This extraordinary mansion offers the ultimate high-end historic getaway, perched above the quintessential Vermont village of Stowe. It sleeps 22. With a rich history, this impressive landmark has been updated with sumptuous modern decor and is now available to guests after more than 150 years as a private residence. Parents will love the unique wine cellar - request a memorable wine tasting at home with the hosts’ recommended sommelier and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Savor amazing wines in this spacious, climate-controlled cellar featuring a curved brick fireplace, intricate bronze fixtures and arched ceilings with hand-laid Venetian plaster (just to mention a few of its extraordinary features). This is an incredible home for an elaborate family vacation, with skiing, sledding, biking, hiking and more, all just minutes away.
Why Kids Love it
The host family have 3 children aged between 5 and 12, so there’s plenty to please families of all ages and sizes. As well as tons of room for everyone to spread out, and plenty of bedrooms for kids to choose from, the outdoor space is huge and boasts a large yard for playing games and sports outside. Kids and teens will be astounded by the gorgeous cinema room, and they’ll love playing foosball in the relaxed family room (while parents can enjoy the peace and quiet of a separate formal living room) or taking turns on the karaoke machine! For parents with younger children and babies, the hosts can provide a high chair and pack-and-play on request. Travel cribs can be added to the primary bedroom or the bedroom lounge area ready for your arrival. Ask the hosts about recommendations for local babysitters if you’d like to enjoy some nights out without the kids.

Style Notes
Historic mansion. This magnificent home remains to be the only significant example of the Georgian Revival style architecture in town. With over 10,000 sqft, the mansion was built circa 1860 and blends some of the finest Eastlake pieces from the Victorian era. Recently restored, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a blend of historic charm and contemporary decor: it’s impeccably furnished in a way that harmoniously marries the old with the new. The interior features eye-catching architectural details, including high ceilings, wood burning fireplaces, gorgeous hardwood floors and an abundance of entertaining spaces. We love the poems scripted on the planks in the walls, the fascinating window etching dated 1877 and that truly spectacular wine cellar.

Stowe, Vermont
Ski Capital of New England
Stowe is located at the base of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest mountain peak. From December through March, there is fantastic skiing and snowboarding to be had; during the warmer months, hiking, mountain biking, and fishing draw visitors to return. Families can find a few of their favorite things at the Trapp Family Lodge, run by the Von Trapp family whose story inspired The Sound of Music, and can tour the Ben & Jerry’s factory in nearby Waterbury.
