Style Notes

Parisian chic. This charming residence is within a building dating from the 18th century and typical of the upper Marais / 11th. There are 3m high ceilings, a period herringboned wood floor (kid friendly) and original coving and cornices. White walls set off the vibrant mid-century modern furniture, mixed with gilt mirrors and a smattering of antiques. We love the sleek white kitchen, the lovely French doors that open to the balcony, and the record player in the living room for family dance parties.

We had a lovely stay at Sabine and Mathieu's apartment! They were wonderful, generous hosts who welcomed us with basics in the fridge and lots of great recommendations for the neighborhood. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. The location is very convenient for exploring Paris, with a metro stop less than a block away. The neighborhood is very cool, with lots of great places to eat and fun shops. Our only wish was to be a bit closer to a playground - there is a nice one at Elie Wiesel Park that is walkable, but it was a haul for our four year old. The apartment itself is charming and spacious. It's a classic Parisian building with high ceilings and big windows, and it was more than enough space for our family of four. There are lots of toys and kids' books for toddlers though teens in English and French. There's an elevator, which we didn't need (although our kids got a kick out of it), but would be amazing if traveling with a stroller. When it was hot enough to leave the windows open at night, there was some street noise, especially on the weekends, but with the windows closed we didn't notice it at all. The other night noise we noticed is a few creaky floorboards - not at all a surprise in an older building, but something to know if you have small kids who are light sleepers and go to bed much earlier than adults.

Had a wonderful time staying here! The home is beautiful, had everything we needed with 2 small kiddos, the owners have lovely taste, and building and courtyard are so lovely. The location is wonderful: the street and the adjacent side streets are very cute with many bars and restaurants, and it's super convenient to multiple metro lines. Sabine was super responsive and helpful with recommendations and other things that came up. We had an amazing stay and hope to do it again!

The apartment is in a fantastic location in the heart of the 11th arrondissement, and in a nice, clean, secure building. The apartment itself has lots of space and many fantastic toys for children. The host was very gracious and helpful, and even recommended a lovely babysitter for us. Our only quibbles would be that the the amenities a could bit newer / nicer (e.g. pillows, linens, towels, etc.), and the apartment could have been a bit cleaner / more organised (e.g. it was very difficult to find things in the kitchen drawers and cupboards). Overall, we had a nice stay, and we would certainly look to stay in the apartment again with a few minor changes.
