This peaceful retreat is set on the courtyard side of its building, offering up an oasis of quiet and calm, worlds away from the metropolitan buzz just minutes from its door. The primary bedroom is set on a floor of its own, with an ensuite bathroom and soaking tub, while the 2 bedrooms downstairs are ideal for older kids and teens seeking some space of their own. The pretty open plan living area opens out directly on to the terrace garden letting in the breeze and providing additional chill out space. The family-friendly cafes and restaurants of the Nation district can be found at the end of the road while the hip neighborhoods of Le Marais, Bastille and Republic are all walkable. The local RER station is very close by for fast and easy access to the rest of Paris.
Why Kids Love it
Set on a tranquil street, kids are sheltered from city noise ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep. There’s no TV but plenty else to entertain with an extensive collection of comic books and a good selection of books and games. The kids’ bedrooms are inviting and warm, each equipped with a desk so they have their own work/craft area if needed. The downstairs living spaces are relaxed and open onto the terrace which has further seating for chilling out, as well as a characterful, canopied dining area for fun alfresco meals. There are parks with playgrounds and libraries on the doorstep as well as laid back cafes, bakeries and restaurants. The local station is close by for those keen to hop on the metro and explore the rest of Paris’s treasures.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 1 night. The apartment is designed for family stays and the hosts do not accept rentals for groups of friends. There are numerous ungated staircases in the apartment - some steep - so it is recommended for kids aged 9+. The terrace is fully fenced. There is good WiFi throughout the apartment and desks/office space available for those who need to work. There is also a washer/dryer. Sorry, no pets.
About the Location
The residence is located in the family-friendly Place de la Nation district which borders the 11th and 12 arrondissements. It’s a leafy area known for its green spaces and relaxed atmosphere, with cafes and restaurants that cater to residents of all ages, and plenty of parks, libraries and playgrounds. A 15-minute stroll will get you to the famous Père-Lachaise cemetery, the final resting place of Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison and Chopin, while the beautiful Place des Vosges and the vibrant downtown neighborhoods of the Marais, La Bastille and Republique are around a 30 minute walk. The Nation RER station is a few minutes away, providing easy access to various parts of Paris. The nearest international airport is Charles de Gaulle, a 45-minute drive, while the Gare du Nord for Eurostar trains is 30 minutes’ by car or 20 minutes by train.
Accommodation Details
The residence is a triplex with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms set over 3 floors. Downstairs, the main living areas are open plan with a well-equipped kitchen-diner, including a dishwasher and a microwave, a dining table seating 6 and doors out to the garden terrace. The living area is cozy and bookshelf clad with sofas, chairs, a window seat and a coffee table. In the corridor there is a small workspace with a desk and stool. Stairs downstairs lead to 2 bedrooms with double beds and 2 bathrooms. The primary bedroom is up on the third floor with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a bath. Outside space consists of a 30sqm garden patio with sofa seating and a covered alfresco dining area with mirrors, lights and a large table.
