Perks for the Parents

This family apartment in a Hausmannian building, steps from the Eiffel Tower, includes modern art and design, plenty for the kids and a well equipped kitchen for family meals. It’s a beautiful residence for a family, with a great mixture of contemporary and classic styles. What really sets it apart is the highly central family-friendly location in Paris on the edge of the Champ des Mars, steps from the Eiffel Tower. The family-sized living room and diner table makes it a great space for a large family of 5 or 3 adults and 2 children. For highly local trips, there is bicycle and car rental outside the door (Velib and Autolib), and the Gros Caillou area of restaurants and bars is walking distance away.

Why Kids Love it

The apartment is great for all ages and includes 2 bedrooms to suit children, 1 with a twin bed and the other with a bunk bed, extra bed and ensuite bathroom. There are plenty of toys and books for kids in French and some in English. The playful design is sure to delight all-comers; one kids bedroom has a cute children’s table, desk in the corner and garland of pom-poms. Nearby attractions for youngsters include playgrounds, old-fashioned carousel, pony riding and puppet show at the Champ de Mars, museums within walking distance (Palais de Tokyo, Musée du Quai Branly, Musée de l'Homme, Trocadéro) and a pedestrian riverbank with kid-friendly activities and restaurants, ideal for walking, cycling and strollers.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 days. The apartment is child safe: the owners have 3 kids and made sure that it is safe for all all ages. It is on the fifth floor with an elevator and an onsite caretaker during office hours, as well as a concierge. Children may need supervision on the balconies. No pets. No smoking inside the apartment. There is no AC at the property, but the host can provide fans on request. Car rental not advised with very reliable public transit routes in the area and no parking at the apartment. A bus runs to the Jardin du Luxembourg and Latin Quarter from this street and the Air France Bus ("Bus Direct") to both airports is across the street. Please note that due to the proximity to the Eiffel Tower, street noise can be heard with the windows open, in particular between 10pm and midnight.

About the Location

The residence is in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, in the Champ de Mars area. The Eiffel Tower and park are steps from the building and there are highly efficient transport routes (metro, bus and intercity trains) within a 5-minute walk, taking you to anywhere in Paris. The RER C is steps away and runs direct to the Château de Versailles. Charles de Gaulle Airport is a 40-minute drive away; Orly is 30 minutes away and the Eurostar is 25 minutes away.

Accommodation Details

This 3-bedroom apartment is on 1 level and includes: 1 large ensuite bedroom with a kingsize bed, private balcony and bathroom with bathtub plus sofa and large iMac used as a TV. The second bedroom has a bunkbed and extra bed underneath plus attached bathroom with shower. The third bedroom has a single bed for an adult or child plus, an office space and a piano. There's an ensuite bathroom plus a separate family bathroom; 1 of the children's bedrooms also has a sink. The large living room has sofas and a 3-metre long wooden dining table for up to 10 people. The kitchen has all amenities including a microwave, juice extractor, waffle and raclette machine. There is no outdoor space.

Style Notes

Parisian chic. The apartment has been fully refurbished in 2021, in particular the kitchen and bathrooms with freshly painted walls. Melding classic Parisian touches - ceiling moldings, herringbone flooring, original fireplaces - with modern day fixtures, street art paintings, contemporary photography and design furniture, this apartment is truly the best of modern Paris. Bedrooms are light, minimalist in design and spacious; the main living space is a double-sized room with sofas and a large wooden table. In a 1913 Haussmann-era building on the Champs de Mars, literally steps from the Eiffel Tower, it is light-filled and fabulous. We love the alternative bookcases, the Louis Ghost chairs and the cozy, colorful kids rooms.

We are a french family and have 3 kids, two girls (13 and 15) and a boy (16). We are born and raised parisians and love traveling to Italy, Asia (and in particular japan and Cambodia were we lived for 4 years), NY, Quebec. We like to take our bikes and ride the banks of the river, stop for a drink or have oysters at Rosa Bonheur.

Our family loved staying at the Avenue Octave Greard Residence. The apartment is spacious, airy, bright, and very classically Parisian. The dining and living areas are comfortable, inviting, and spacious, and look out on a beautiful Parisian street. The proximity to the Eiffel Tower cannot be underestimated -- it's literally a one minute walk, which our kids loved because we made numerous visits to the Tower. Jeanne is helpful, responsive, speaks excellent English, and always very pleasant. The apartment is also very, very close to a stop utilized by various of the Seine cruise companies, and thus is very convenient for visiting many of the attractions on the Seine. The apartment was beautiful, comfortable, and a perfect home base for introducing our family to Paris.

Our family felt very fortunate to stay in this lovely apartment during our first visit to Paris. The location was convenient and an easy walk to the many shops and restaurants located in the Rue Saint-Dominique/Rue Cler area. Jeanne was friendly and responsive and provided lots of great information and recommendations. The apartment itself is spacious, bright, and family-friendly with beautiful artwork and beautiful views. We would definitely recommend this to others.

Jeanne was a gracious host and greeted us warmly. The apartment is located right by the Eiffel Tower which makes for a wonderful experience every time you go for a walk in the neighborhood. The kids loved the bunk beds and playing the piano. We also enjoyed being on the border of the 7th and 15th arrondissements as it gave us an opportunity to explore different neighborhoods. We would definitely recommend this to friends.

This apartment is very Parisian and in a safe neighborhood. We enjoyed walking to the more residential area of the 7th and trying restaurants and walking down Rue Cler. Potential clients should be aware that it is literally steps to the Eiffel Tower and with that comes a lot of tourist traffic & crowds. The host was very kind and responsive to all issues. We did have some issues with this place, which might not be problems for everyone, but for us it made the stay on the negative side. The weather was warm when we were visiting and there were no fans and the noise from open windows was excessive. We found it extremely difficult to sleep. There is only one toilet in the entire apartment and it is separate from the showers. This is not clear from the description online and we were quite displeased with the arrangement.

The appartement is fantastic. The location is easily accessible, with loads in walking distance. Great to potter, loads of nearby walks, bars and restaurants (recommendations provided by Jeanne). Travel into the centre of Paris and out to Versailles is really easy. The appartement itself is spacious, well equipped and strikes just the right balance of homely and cool.

Our family couldn't have imagined a better stay! Jeanne's home was immaculate with plenty of family friendly features and an amazing location. The flat itself was well laid out, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Terrific views. Thank you for making our week just perfect!
