Perks for the Parents

A recently-restored gem not far from Lucca, with heaps of historic charm, contemporary interiors and a private saltwater swimming pool. It sleeps 7 + 1. Views of the garden, olive groves and the Tuscan hills are visible from every window, while outside opens up different spaces for eating, sitting and relaxing, offering sun and shade alike. Parents will love the walled garden at the back of the house, where you can escape from the kitchen with a coffee or a glass of wine. Prepare family meals on the BBQ and enjoy alfresco dining under the pergola, or simply relax under the shade of a centuries-old oak tree and around pool, looking out to the wooded hills beyond.

Why Kids Love it

For family days out, kids will love visiting Pinocchio Parc (a theme park with children's rides, a puppet theater, a hedge maze and other attractions) or one of the nearby water parks in the warmer months. Kids will love splashing in the saltwater pool all day or exploring the quiet, private garden which has palm trees, bamboo, cypress and olive trees and 3 terraces cleverly designed to benefit from the sun and the shade. For parents with babies or toddlers, a crib and highchair are available for an additional fee of 75EUR per week.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Bookings change over on Saturdays. Air Conditioning is included in high summer or charged at 100EUR per week in mid season, on request. There are mosquito coverings on the windows and plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. A security deposit of 500EUR must be paid before arrival, as specified in the booking confirmation. There is an additional weekly cleaning charge of 250EUR. Bed linen and towels (including ones for pool use) are changed weekly. A cleaner also comes for housekeeping services mid-week.

About the Location

The villa is located 14km from Lucca, one of Italy’s most beautiful towns. The house itself is located on the famous wine and olive oil route that you can drive or bike along, visiting the vineyards, olive groves and historic villas en route. Trips to the beach and the coastal town of Forte dei Marmi, or to Pietrasanta, Bargo, and Borgo a Mozzano are all easy. The hosts can help you plan walks, bike rides, horse rides, rafting, a jeep tour through marble quarries or even a canal cruise in Livorno. The villa is around 17km from the coast, with a handful of small shops, a supermarket and restaurants around 5 minutes away by car. The nearest airport is Pisa (30km) or Florence (80km).

Accommodation Details

The villa has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. On the main level, you’ll find a contemporary kitchen with an island and double doors on both sides leading to the pool or the outdoor dining tables. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and cooking utilities. The kitchen flows to the living and dining space. Also on this floor is a smaller bedroom, ideal for 1 adult or 2 children, with views over the garden and an open plan shower room. Upstairs, there are 3 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. All the bedrooms have a private shower room, with simple resin floors and modern stainless steel fittings. Please note, there are no baths in this property.

Style Notes

Contemporary villa. The house has been renovated with beautiful cotto floors and high wooden ceilings, complemented by a soft color palette, natural linen fabrics and handmade furniture to create a spacious yet warm interior. All the bedrooms are designed with both form and function in mind, fitted with air-conditioned and deeply comfortable beds made up with beautiful cool linens. The living area is cozy and elegant, with a white linen corner sofa and comfortable armchairs, all brought together with richly textured fabrics for a luxurious feel. We love the art in the living space, the exposed stone and wood rustic details and the sophisticated splashes of pink in the color palette.

We loved our stay at the Lucca Villa. The location was extremely picturesque, nestled among olive groves. It is in the province of Lucca, about a 30 minute drive to the city of Lucca. The house was very comfortable and had lovely outdoor spaces. The 4th bedroom that we did not use was really more of a bathroom with a full bed in it. It does not have a closet. It would work well for a child, but would not have been ideal for an adult. The other bedrooms are on the second floor up a steep flight of stairs. The 3 main bedrooms are spacious and airy. The rooms are equipped with AC but they were not working during our stay. The outdoor spaces are beautiful and plentiful with lots of comfortable seating areas.
