Perks for the Parents
This 15th-century villa is set in the rolling, picturesque hills of Tuscany, 20 km from Siena, and is an easy walk to the Alto Merse Nature Reserve and a river for swimming. It sleeps up to 5 + 1. The villa is just outside a small Tuscan village with a pizzeria and trattoria. It provides a great base to explore Tuscany’s ancient villages, medieval castles and beautiful countryside. Indulge with a visit to the thermal baths of Rapolano Terme, 30 minutes by car, where several hot water pools are set in olive tree slopes with panoramic views. The thermal baths of Petriolo and Saturnia are also close by.
Why Kids Love it
Kids will enjoy paddling and swimming in the River Merse, which flows about 200 m from the villa. The area is part of the Alto Merse Nature Reserve so the water is very clean and fresh. A small, shaded riverside area is within 5 minutes’ walk, and another 10 minutes brings you to a natural pool for a deeper swim. Families will enjoy the peace and quiet as well as horse-riding at the local riding centre and eating at the child-friendly restaurants and cafés of Rosia, just up the road. Further afield, it's an easy a day trip to the beach at Cala Violina, a beautiful Mediterranean bay.

Style Notes
Historic villa. Recently restored, this Tuscan hideaway has the perfect mix of ancient tradition and modern comforts. The antique spaces have been reinvigorated, made more comfortable and personalized using traditional local materials of rough stone, terracotta, wrought iron and wood. The central courtyard is a wonderful shared space for dinner under the stars. We love the cool traditional terracotta tiles and white walls throughout, the quirky living space in the old cellar with its ancient stone walls and the huge, stone bath tub, perfect for a soak after a long, hot day sightseeing.
