Perks for the Parents

A stylish cabin retreat in the mountains with a sauna, pool and cinema room, under 10 minutes’ drive from one of Vermont’s best ski resorts. It sleeps 8 + 2. This recently renovated country residence is the perfect base for all seasons with plenty of space to unwind, relax and gather. There’s a play den for the kids, a movie theater with plush velvet sofas and a host of spa facilities including an infrared sauna with red light therapy, a bathroom with rainwater showers and a fully fenced outdoor pool (for additional peace of mind). The open plan style kitchen comes with top of the range appliances for stress-free meal prep, as well as filtered drinking water on tap. Outside, there are 30 acres to explore with outdoor games, alfresco dining, and a firepit for cozy evenings toasting marshmallows and stargazing. For those seeking further outdoor adventure there are local hiking and biking trails and Killington Ski Resort with slopes for all abilities just 7 minutes away by car.

Why Kids Love it

Adventure awaits at this fun-filled mountain cabin, with 30 acres of woodland and pastures to run, explore and build dens in. There’s a badminton set (amongst other outdoor games), an outside pool with floats and toys, and a firepit for S’mores and star gazing. For downtime there’s plenty of space and entertainment inside too with a sofa-clad cinema room, a play den with board games, books, toys, and foosball, and an additional play space in the loft with real cabin vibes. Active kids have plenty on offer locally with bike trails, walking paths and year-round mountain sports. The local ski resort has a good offering of snow-based activities during the winter season including tubing and snowmobiling for those not into skiing, and mountain biking and junior golf in summer. The hosts can provide a highchair and kids’ dinner sets on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The pool is fully gated for parents’ peace of mind and is typically open from Memorial Day to Labour Day (weather depending). There is an office space on the main floor for those needing to work. There is a washer/dryer in the basement cinema room downstairs for convenience. The primary bedroom has AC and so does the lower level, but the 2 other bedrooms do not have AC: there are fans in both rooms and windows that open to let in the cool breeze at night. Organic bedding is used in all the bedrooms. There is space to park on site and a car is recommended for exploring the local area. Please note that the black garage and the sugar shack are not available to guests; there is also a pond in the grounds so younger ones should be supervised. There are exterior security cameras at the property. The hosts kindly request that only guests who have booked are on site at the property. Sorry no pets, parties, smoking or drinking games.

For amenities, Bridgewater has grocery stores, cafes and restaurants including a pizzeria and is around 12 minutes by car. Style Notes

Cabin chic. A stylish mountain retreat featuring a mix of cozy wood and cosmopolitan glass with luxuriously styled interiors. Bohemian/mid-century features are blended with elements of industrial chic to create a warm but contemporary vibe throughout. Neutral whites are set off by darker splashes of color, velvet jewel tone couches and striking stained glass windows in the bathroom and some of the bedrooms. The gorgeous natural setting is a big influence here with floor to ceiling glass to make the most of the views and natural light. We love the many hearts of this home, from the airy open plan style kitchen and the large farm dining table just made for family feasts, to the statement fireplaces, and outdoor fire pit for gathering together of an evening, swapping stories, toasting S’mores or breaking out the board games.
