A luxurious Victorian townhouse by the sea that’s perfect for multi-generational trips or family gatherings, with plenty of bedroom options, plus a cinema room and game room in the basement. It sleeps 18. Parents will love waking up to the soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore, with panoramic sea views greeting you at every turn. The sandy beach is across the road and the town’s cute bakeries and shops are all a short stroll away - the hosts can recommend some of the area’s great restaurants, local excursions, boat trips, nearby golf courses and regional mountain trails.
Why Kids Love it
Children love the sandy beach across the road, the arcade and small fun fair - all walkable from the house. That’s if you can get them to leave the basement: the house has a cinema room with lots of DVDs and a smart 85'' TV to stream movies, as well as a Wii console with games. There’s also a separate game room, with a huge chalk board wall (chalks provided) plus a game table which converts to an air hockey game, pool table and table tennis table (plus an additional adult size pool table). The kids can make as much noise as they want in the basement without disturbing your peace!
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 3 nights at weekends, 4 days for a mid-week stay (Mon-Fri or Fri-Mon). Safety notes: there are lots of stairs and the home is set 5 storeys, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues or very young toddlers. There is parking directly outside for up to 3 cars. Additional on street parking is available at a car park close to house. The hosts will accept pets - up to 3 dogs. The closest airports are Birmingham or Liverpool (around 2.5 hours) or Cardiff (3.5 hours).
About the Location
The house is located in Barmouth, a small seaside town on the West coast of Wales. The property is central to everything Barmouth has to offer, from shops and restaurants, theaters and watersports, to the best ice cream parlours and bakeries - all within walking distance so you won’t need to travel by car to get around. If you do want to explore the region more, you’ll be well-placed to visit Snowdownia National Park, where there are scenic trails for walking and cycling. Bala Lake is around half an hour away.
Accommodation Details
The house has 9 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 5 floors. On the ground floor, you’ll find a beautiful dining room with seating for up to 18 + 1 high chair, and there’s also a breakfast bar in the kitchen. Upstairs to the first floor, the large living room boasts views over Barmouth beach. There’s 1 bedroom on this floor, while all the others are on the upper floors. Four of the bedrooms can be converted from super kingsize beds to twin beds, and there’s 1 children’s bunk room with a single-over-double bed, sleeping 3. The remaining bedrooms have kingsize beds, plus 1 smaller double. Five of the bedrooms at the front have sea views while the 4 at the back boast mountain vistas. There are bathrooms on each floor, plus an office room at the top of the house for home working.

The hosts have chosen deep, rich tones and luxurious textures to create a warm, enveloping feeling that’s a unique oasis in contrast to the bright sunny seaside surroundings. We love the mix of dramatic wallpapers (check out the giraffe and peacock rooms!), the opulent bathrooms and the architectural period features on show in the living room.
