In 2013 we were seeking an escape from Brooklyn and found this original Mid-century gem in Woodstock. Coming from design industries we took it on with goals to maintain rich details while adding modern warmth and comfort. We love having a pause from the city - taking the kids on hikes, eating farm-fresh foods, and just slowing life down. These city kids love to run around outside, read, play soccer, make art and explore in the woods. Aside from escaping to the country, we explore further afield whenever possible and base adventures on what delicious things we can eat.

Woodstock, Catskills

Green, organic and free range

Head to the Catskills and Woodstock for an eco-friendly retreat: wooded hillsides, hiking trails, lakes, rivers and plenty of space to run, yell and play. Artists, writers and musicians have made this rural spot a colony for the arts - and there’s great home-baked food here too.

This was our second wonderful stay at Joanna's Woodstock home with our two daughters (1 and 4). Being here feels like a true vacation, from the beautiful design and setting, the well-organized and spacious kitchen, the easy walk into town, and the tons of fun kids' toys. Joanna's tips for activities and restaurants made the stay even better. We hope to be back!

We cannot say enough good things about our stay - the house is super kid friendly with lots of toys for kids of any age plus great bed/crib options. We had everything we needed available to us for our entire stay and only needed to buy food for ourselves - everything else was super well stocked. Joanna was incredibly proactive and responsive, and provided an amazing list of activities, restaurants, etc. in the area. We had a great time and enjoyed all that Woodstock and the surrounding areas have to offer with an amazing place to use as our home base. We will definitely be coming back!

We had such a wonderful stay at the Bluestone. Large spacious property with a very spacious home beautifully decorated and an excellent layout for a family or group. The endless amounts of toys and activities for the kids made our stay complete. And proximity to the center of town is incredible, seconds away. Can't wait to come back again!

Our stay in the Bluestone Road Residence was a highlight during a tough year. The house is beautiful, tranquil, and immaculate, with a superb kitchen that allowed us to prepare a lovely, simple Thanksgiving meal. Our three-year old was delighted by the games and toys available, while our infant slept soundly in the crib. The indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pits were a very special treat for our city family. Joanna was a great communicator and host. Thank you so much for this special experience!

We had a wonderful stay at the Bluestone Road Residence. The house was beautiful and extremely well equipped for our family stay (including a toddler and a baby). Our older daughter had a blast playing in the teepee tent and great toys. We enjoyed hiking in the snow and visiting the town's shops and restaurants. Joanna was a great host and we would love to come back another time!

We were two families with four young children between us and absolutely loved our stay at Joanna’s place. The house is beautiful, immaculate and in a tranquil setting yet very close to the center of town where we got supplies from the bakery and grocery stores within 5min drive. The children were busy exploring the toys (so many that there will still be new ones to discover if we come back !)and the outdoors (it rained almost every day during our stay but that didn’t put off the children from exploring the woods). Highly recommend !

Had an amazing stay - Woodstock is magical. Yoga, good restaurants, fun little downtown, hiking, cooking in a big beautiful kitchen. The home was spotless and the owner has an amazing eye for design. I would definitely return. It would be great spot to share with two families.

Had a lovely stay for 4 nights with a 3 year old & 16 month old with grandparents. The set up was perfect. we could occupy one side of the house with the kids and the grandparents had the master suite on the "quieter" side of the house. The house itself was great, super clean and kid friendly. The toy room was a joy - as was the basement which came with a mini trampoline ( yay!). We really enjoyed the large kitchen and having a fire at night. The town itself was a wonderful destination town with plenty to-do nearby. Joanna was a very responsive and kind host - answered all of our questions and more. Would definitely recommend this place and stay here again.

We LOVED our stay at this home!!! It was even better than we expected, which is saying a lot - we were very excited just by the photos! It was perfect for two families (four adults, 2 preschoolers and 2 toddlers) and we all had the best time over a long holiday weekend. The playroom, the basement play area, the kids bedrooms, the huge open kitchen stocked with equipment, the selection of so many great books and toys (solid gold when traveling with kids), the useful kids gear (crib, hiking pack, white noise, kid-size plates and utensils, etc) and the beautiful yard and deck with a grill and plenty of seating... we loved it all. Not to mention - the beautiful decor and comfy beds were a great bonus. The location is perfect, it feels secluded and private but is minutes from downtown Woodstock. A great home base to explore the area. Joanna was a wonderful host - super communicative and responsive to our questions. We can't wait to visit again and could not recommend the house more highly!

We had a wonderful stay here! Joanna was welcoming and communicative and the house was absolutely beautiful; it looks like it belongs in a magazine! We went with my in-laws and two little ones, who loved the game room and the sprawling backyard. The home was a convenient home base for quick trips to the Saugerties Lighthouse and easy hikes nearby. Thanks so much for having us, Joanna! We hope to come back and visit again.

This was a fantastic house and location. It was very close to everything and easy to get to. Our families had a wonderful time - there were tons of toys to play with, and space for them to run and wander the property. We saw deer in the backyard regularly :) Joanna was very accommodating and checked in with us to make sure everything was ok. The house was a little warm, even with the AC, but we were in the middle of a hot spell, and the fans helped tremendously.

We had a wonderful stay at the Bluestone Road Residence. We were 4 adults and 3 kids, and had plenty of space (and playspace!). The home is clean and welcoming, and the kids gave a two thumbs up rating in the toy category. The location is fantastic-- walkable to the downtown area and in a beautiful setting. The hosts were lightning-fast in responding to us and very thoughtful about checking in as we were arriving and departing. Thanks so much for the lovely visit!

The house was perfect for kids in terms of layout and games, books, toys -- ours wanted to stay! It was also great for groups with the open kitchen and large dining table. Unfortunately, we had a rainy weekend and didn't get to spend time outside, but the outdoor space looked lovely. Joanna was incredibly helpful and easy to reach with questions. We had a wonderful visit.

There's a great kitchen and living area for adults, and the playroom and basement were a big hit with our 3 year old. Joanna directed us to 2 great hikes in the area and the house is minutes away from downtown Woodstock. We can't wait to come back.

This was such an inviting, cozy, well-located, (in short)perfect retreat house for a long weekend. You don't even need to leave the house and yard to have fun! The property is wonderfully arranged for enjoyments from sledding to running to indoor soccer, games and toys galore, to quiet reading in a nook. We loved cooking and cozying up in the kitchen around the wood stove as much as we loved gathering for games and music in the spacious living room. Some of the nicest decor, organization and appointments we've encountered at any K&C property. The hosts were extraordinarily helpful and responsive, providing local info and detailed, easy-to-follow house instructions. Thank you!

My husband, daughter and I stayed at Bluestone Road for my birthday weekend and it couldn’t have been better! The house is beautiful and so inviting for children. We didn’t run out of things to do (even on a rainy day) thanks to the playroom and basement with tumbling mats. We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace in the evening after cooking lovely dinners in the beautiful open kitchen. We hope to return again!

We had a very nice time in this house and the indoor play offerings for the kids were fantastic. They loved the extensive train set and art desk upstairs and all the space and equipment for tumbling downstairs. The location is nice because it’s very close to the main drag in Woodstock. As the three bedroom cluster is right next to the kitchen and dining area, it’s tough to control noise early in the morning, so guests should be strategic about where to sleep kids who wake up early vs those who want to sleep in. Overall, very stylish, well equipped and kid friendly little house and the hosts provide great support.

We had a wonderful summer vacation at the Bluestone residence. It has everything you would want for an easy and fun stay with the kids. Tons of toys, instruments, even a hiking backpack to borrow. The kitchen is fully equipped. There are great places to explore nearby like waterfalls and water holes to splash around. The centre of Woodstock is fun to explore and walking distance. We loved roasting marshmallows in the backyard. A great vacation!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful residence. The house was very warm with lovely details and very welcoming for children. Our girls loved playing in the den/playroom stocked with games and toys and the indoor basement complete with a small trampoline and tumbling mat keeping everyone moving and busy for hours. The living room and kitchen have big, beautiful windows that let in the landscape, adding to the magic of sitting by the fire or around the kitchen table. The house is on a lovely street and in close proximity to shops and restaurants which makes meal time super easy. Joanna was a fantastic host and her easy communication style just added to the whole experience. We can't wait to return!

The house is so charming and perfect for a large family. We enjoyed the modern kitchen and had great meals around the large table. The kids had a blast in the basement and throughout the house. The fireplace is amazing since it opens both in the living room and in the master bedroom! The property is great fun in the snow. Some sliding was done by th little ones! We spent a lovely weekend with a couple of friends at the Bluestone ! We even saw deers everyday just in front of the house ! The residence is great, nicely decorated, with a lot of space for everyone (we were 3 couples, 2 single and 2 toddlers of one and half years old). The kitchen is brand new and well furnished.I loved the outdoor space with the large wooden deck, table and lounge chairs, perfect to read a book with a cup of coffee and listen to the forest... The kids were also so happy to play with all the instruments (piano, guitare, etc), toys and lovely books. And the outdoor was great to play with balls. There is an indoor playroom (with balls, trampoline, gym mat) we didn’t use because the weather was so nice, but must be very convenient for rainy days. The communication with Joanna was very easy. She responded almost instantly at my messages, and was very helpful and accommodating. I would definitely come back to Joannas house !

We loved staying at the Blue Stone Residence! Beautifully appointed house with plenty of toys and games for my sons. It was my parent's first trip upstate and they loved the easy walk into Woodstock. We went apple picking, made apple pie in their perfectly appointed kitchen, had s'mores in the fire pit outside, toured the Saugerties Lighthouse and visited Opus 40. Such a wonderful location and gracious hosts.

Beautiful house, surrounded by fairy-tale woods and convenient access to downtown with a short 10-minute walk. Our family of five + in-laws spent the loveliest long weekend and wish we could have stayed for longer. We enjoyed relaxing afternoons on the deck and hammock, outdoor dinners and playing guitar at night by the fire pit. The multitude of toys in the house was a big hit with our 2 old. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and the layout of the house gave everyone - kids and adults - space. Joanna is super friendly and accommodating, providing everything we needed as well as ideas for activities and places to visit. We look forward to finding a time to return!

We had a fabulous time at Joanna's house in late July. We wanted a getaway from New York with our 2 year old and my heavily pregnant wife and had a blast. The house is wonderfully decorated, hasn't plenty of toys and games in the playroom and a trampoline to keep the kids occupied no matter the weather, and is close to some lovely hikes and fruit picking. Wow, what a place. It was spacious, clean and really well designed and had a really great layout. The setting is just woodsy and relaxing. We loved the children's playroom and the kitchen especially, both were top notch. The BBQ gas grill was the best I've ever used in my life! The proximity to the elementary school playground was really nice too. The owners were prompt and very accommodating, a pleasure to rent from!

This was my first time renting through KidandCoe, and I didn't really know what to expect. Needless to say, we were so impressed! My best friend and our families stayed here over a long weekend in April. I can not say enough wonderful things about this home, the owners and the town of Woodstock. The house is amazing. The owners did a fantastic job of renovating while still keeping the original charm of a deck house. The rooms are airy and impeccably decorated. We loved the "camp" like feel to the house. This is a really great house to rent with two families. We stayed in the guest room, and I honestly thought it was as nice as the master bedroom. The kitchen is fully stocked, and we were easily able to cook an elaborate dinner our final night. One of the best things about this property is how kid friendly it is! The owners have thought of everything, from the big details like high chairs, crib/pack-n-plays, changing tables, toys to the small details like bibs, nightlights, and sippy cups. We had three children under the age of five and they were so happy playing in the house. The tent in the living room was a huge hit. Finally, Joanna could not have been more helpful. We pretty much followed all of her recommendations from hikes to restaurants. She was also very prompt to answer any question we had about the town or house. We are already planning on a trip again next year!

Owners were great at communicating before our stay and made sure we were well informed about the house and srea. Instructions were extremely thorough and easy to understand. Area attractions were very helpful. We enjoyed the brand new kitchen, many bedrooms for the kids, and the playroom that was well stocked. The backyard was expansive and the fireplace in the living room was the coziest place after a snowy day! Thank you Joanna

We had a marvelous time at Joanna's home and couldn't have asked for a better weekend away. There was a small hiccup at the beginning of the trip due to the heat not working but Joanna and her husband were super responsive and had the oil company over immediately to take care of it. They continued to check in with us throughout our stay to make sure all our needs were met. We were 2 families with 4 kids (ages 1-4) between us and everyone had a blast. The house is gorgeous, with beautiful attention to detail in the choice of furnishings and home accessories. I appreciated the fully equipped and stocked kitchen and my husband loved the super comfy bed, cozy fireplace and wood burning stove. The kids couldn't get enough of the tent in the living room, amazing toy selection, and DVD collection. Though we made the trip up to Woodstock specifically to enjoy the snow and outdoors, no one wanted to leave the house! We definitely plan on returning to enjoy what the home has to offer in the warmer months.

We stayed here over New Year's with our 18 month old son and another family with their 15 month old son. The house was lovely, everything from the aesthetics and design to being completely kid and family friendly, as well as nice for the adults once the kids went to bed. Joanna was a very accommodating host who mad sure that we had everything we needed. The location was also great: close enough to town so it wasn't a hassle to do anything, but far enough away to let us feel like we were having a weekend in the country. We look forward to renting this house again, especially this summer when we can make better use of the outdoor fire pit!
