If you’re looking for things to do with kids in Le Marche, Italy, there’s no better expert than our lovely host Amanda. She has spent most of her career in the Children’s industry designing products and services to help make parent’s lives easier. As a mother of 2, and an avid traveler, she knows what it is like travelling with children, and how to create an experience that takes the hassle out of renting a home-from-home. As the host of Villa Castelle and Villa Castelleta in Le Marche, she creates bespoke tours and excursions for her guests and is happy to share her favorite things to do in Le Marche with kids.
Le Marche has just been voted by ABTA as one of 10 top destinations worldwide to visit. It’s off the beaten path and avoids the crowds, nestled between the Sibillini mountains and the coastline of the Adriatic Sea – one of Italy’s most unspoilt and picturesque regions.
It’s also great for kids with water parks, underground caves, lots of cooking classes and more. Our nearby beach is super shallow for around half a km out to sea, so it’s fantastic for small children! Here’s some of our favorite things to do in Le March with kids, all reachable from our beautiful estate.
1. Take a Pizza or Pasta Making Class
Discover the secrets of the oldest Italian recipes for traditional pasta or pizza dough – a great way to get kids involved in cooking. They can even eat their masterpieces for dinner.
2. Cultural Day Trips
Visit Ancona, the capital of Le Marche. This historic town is filled with cathedrals, museums, churches and the remains of a Roman amphitheater. Like Villa Castelle and Castelleta, it’s one of the other places in this region where you can see both sunrises and sunsets..
3. Explore the Mountains
You’ll find trails for trekking, horseback riding, paragliding and mountain biking. The Sibilliani mountains even offer skiing in winter.
4. Hit the Beach
The Riviera Conero covers nearly 200km and offers one of the highest numbers of blue flag beaches in Italy. The beaches are dotted with coves only accessible by sea (boat rides also available).
5. Visit Lavender Fields
In May and June each summer, the lavender fields are open for visitors to discover how they are dried and made into oils. Kids will love walking through the fields and it’s a great photo opportunity!
6. Get Cycling
There are so many unspoiled roads for cycling in this region, and you can cycle directly to the beach from Villa Castelle and Castelleta via a non-car route.
7. Discover Osimo
This historic city was built on ancient underground tunnels carved 2500 years ago. Exploring the Frassasi caves is a great way to escape from the summer heat!
