Our Favourite Lisbon Restaurants

• “Fauna e Flora” in Santos or Anjos, for breakfast or lunch
• “Boa Bao” in Chiado, for amazing Asian Food in very cool environment
• “Casanova” in Santa Apolónia, the best Pizza in town
• “Pasta Non Basta” – Italian, good to go with kids
• “In Bocca al Luppo” near São Bento, with great organic Italian food
• “Santini” in Chiado, for the best ice cream in Lisbon
• “Café Nicolau” or “Amélia Café” for lunch or brunch
• “Pharmacia” to try different kinds of Portuguese traditional food with an amazing view
• “Kaffehaus” an Austrian, good for brunch in Chiado
• “Restô” for fantastic views if you can book a table in the terrace. It is integrated in a circus school!
• “Honorato Burger” for the best gourmet burger in town (and in more than one location)
• “Prado Restaurante” near Sé de Lisboa, with amazing food from the chef
• “Time Out Mercado da Ribeira” – the first food market in the world from Time Out magazine, with so many good options
Ajitama Ramen Bistro – if you are a fan of Ramen, this is the best one in town. (We are also the owners!) There’s a brand-new location near Chiado (on Rua do Alecrim 47 A), plus one on Avenida Duque de Loulé 36.

• “Lux” – the best, trendiest club in Portugal
Bairro Alto – a district with several small bars and a mix of international people, as well as locals.
Cais do Sodré – another district with several bares. “Pensão do Amor” has fantastic interiors, while “Jamaica” (usually fully-packed) has music from the 80’s.
• “Clube Ferroviário” – for pleasant nights outside (when it isn’t cold), this bar close to the river has a big exterior lounge.
• “Pavilhão Chinês” – a classic bar with fantastic interiors
• “Cinco Lounge” – this is the place to go for cocktails
• “Imprensa” – if you like to mix cocktails with Oysters, visit this spot!
• “Matiz Pombalina” – also excellent for cocktails, less trendy and more intimate than “Cinco Lounge”. It is beautiful, located in a recovered 18th century building, with the classical Lisboa façade from that century.
• “Procópio” – very small, intimate and with interesting, classic decor. Good for cocktails.
• “Foxtrot” – great for cocktails.

Places to visit in Lisbon

Lx Factory – used to be an area of old factories and now is full of cool restaurants and shops, with a street market on Sunday mornings.
Maat Museum – the architecture is incredible.
Alfama – a very typical neighbourhood in downtown.
Principe Real – a very trendy neighbourhood, with cool shops and restaurants.
Marvila – a new cool area in town, with restaurants and craft beer bars.
Campo de Ourique – a very nice neighbourhood with restaurants and shops.

Best Shopping Areas in Lisbon

Chiado
Baixa (downtown)
Avenida Liberdade (high-end outlets such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc)
Bairro Alto (during the day)
Principe Real – cool shops
Feira da Ladra – if you like flea markets, this is a great genuine experience on Saturday mornings, open until lunch time

Best Places for Kids in Lisbon

Jardim da Estrela – a nice garden with a playground.
• “Pavilhão do conhecimento” – science museum, very interactive, kids love it.
• “Oceanário” aquarium.
• “Lisbon Zoo“.
• “Gulbenkian” – a very nice garden, and a kid’s museum programme.
Parque das Conchas – a very big park with a playground and picnic areas.
• Ride the tram 28.
• Take a tuktuk ride.
• “Village underground” – a restaurant integrated in an old bus. Very cool.
Parque Eduardo VII – a really nice playground with a kiosk (and good pizza).
Color Square Concept Kid Store – this is our own store, with sustainable and didactic toys handpicked by ourselves from the 4 corners of the world. We also have our own locally produced sustainable clothing collection designed by a Portuguese artist. The shop is in Campo Pequeno.

Sightseeing outside Lisbon

Belém – for the Jerónimos Monastery, Padrão dos Descobrimentos, and the World-famous Pastel de Belém (pastry)…delicious!
Sintra – a beautiful, small place with a fantastic Palace (Palácio da Pena).
Cascais – a nice village near the sea.
Costa da Caparica – for a beautiful beach.
Comporta and Troia – Really cool and relaxing places to enjoy being at the beach and slow living.
